115 Johnson, water not peeing, but impeller is good, water pressure shows 0

I have a 115hp Johnson, and today, when running it, I noticed that the water pressure gage was at 0, then I looked back, and didnt see any peeing from the normal area on the bottom of the head. But strangely enough, my temperature light and warning horn never came on, and the motor didn't show any signs that it was very overheated. So took the boat out of the water, and later removed the lower unit to make sure the impeller was still good, and still engaged to the shaft. And it all seemed good. Any ideas what could be wrong? My father-in-law said it could be the thermostat. Anyone had this happen before? thanks for any tips,
Christian

Eldo, you look fairly new so heres a little ettiquete. The proper way to get your question addressed would be to open a separate thread. People will sometimes jump on a thread with a closely related question but the best way to get info related specifically to your question would be your own thread. There are many people on here that will give you sound advise.

ccabal, I don't know anything about Johnsons but when I ran into something similar on my merc it turned out that there was something obstructing the path of the water. I blew some compressed air through the pee hole and it cleared it up.

Thermostat would make it get hot. Normal deal for pee hose to stop up just start at the fitting at the exhaust cover plate and blow everything out like RRaider said.

Thanks, I will give that a try. One of my big concerns is that maybe my temperature warning lights are not working. If the motor is not peeing, wouldn't it get hot? Also since the pressure gage shows '0', would this be consistent with the pee hose being stopped up?

Oh, and another question... since I took down the lower unit to check the impeller, and now I have to put it back on, I am not sure how I get the shift rod back in place, connected to the shift linkage on the head? The end of the shift rod has a bent area about an inch long, with a hole in it. I guess that hole must be where some sort of pin goes through to connect it? Well any tips on how I get that rod in place correctly? Do I need to make it face a certain direction when I push the lower unit up? I've been trying to follow the Clymer manual I have but I find that manual really sucks. It explains how to take down the lower unit, but doesnt explain how to put it back.

Eldo, go the Boat and Motors forum but do not go into a particular thread. You should see "new topic" near the top of the screen. Once you click that, you can have a thread all to your question.

cc, i used to have a evenrude on my skeeter and remember the lower unit was a pain to get back on. There is usually a trick to getting lower units back on but I don't remember what it was on the evenrude now. Talk to a service shop and maybe they can fill you in on yur motor. Or maybe someone has that motor and can chime in.
My current boat has a 50hp merc and I just changed the impeller. I know for mine, I had to have the gear selector in reverse to drop it and about half way between reverse and neutral to get it back on. Also helps a bunch if you have a second person to help lift the lower unit while you allign everything.

It helps alot to have something to set under the lower unit to hold it in place, like a folding metal chair, while lining up WATER TUBE. Let motor down with trim as lower unit goes up. Shift shaft should go back to where it came out. When you get within about 1 inch of all up, you will have to move the flywheel to line up top splines. If shift shaft moves during install, you can raise up with needle nose at front just above where lower connects. Line shift shaft hole up and reinstall bolt on early models and move linkage engaging pin into shiftshaft hole on later models.

thanks for the tip. nefishwilldo, how did you know your motor temperature? Does your boat have a temperature reading? Also is there a way to test the overheating alarm to make sure it works?

poke a small wire into the pee hole, it's probably clogged.
