I haven't been in a few weeks, but they were on the humps and main lake points also then. White slabs were the ticket then bounced off the bottom( if they made it that far).

I have been catching hybirds and sandies on a white and chartruse slab on cooper lake. I have been burning it off the bottem about two feet and let it fall back. Most strikes are coming on the fall.

Like Tony said...burn it off the bottom and let it fall! The main thing is making the right cast. Work on your depthfinder/gps skills to find the fish instead of blind casting on main lake humps. First you have to know what you are looking for on a depthfinder.
This is not the best pic ever but it is all I had. The fish on the depthfinder are big hybrids. Notice the big archs a little off of the bottom. Hybrids will often show up as 3-4 large archs piled on top of each other. In other words, they don't always look like a huge school. Sandbass are a little different. The schools are usually larger and start at the bottom. Often they look connected to the bottom like brush. Some schools extend all the way to the surface with smaller archs that are closer together. Of coarse, there are always exceptions to these rules but, this will get you started.

Yes I do fish Pat Mayes. Mostly for bass and crappie. I believe I am headed out to Cooper this afternoon. Black skeeter.
