This was my B-Day present from my wife:

It's an L-39ZA, a Czech made trainer/light-attack aircraft produced for the old Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries back in the day. This one was actually built in 1987. Anyway, if you were on Bardwell yesterday, you may have seen us doing a Cuban 8, Split S, Immelman, Loop, Aileron Roll, Barrell Roll, and several High-G turns. It was amazing. A smooth flying bird, very maneuverable, and quite roomy for a small jet. I'm 6'4" and close to 270 lbs and though my flight suit was about 2 sizes too small, I was relatively comfortable.

We flew out of Lancaster Airport.

That is just way too cool - - bet you had a blast and I'm sure you'll remember that ride for a long time!

It was beyond sweet. We started out with a Split S, which had us in a straight dive towards the lake and might I say that it comes awfully quick. We pulled up into an Immelman, which sent us vertical and inverted at the roll. The feeling is completely indescribable, to us non-pilots anyway.

I did this flight 2 years ago. Fantastic! Bid on it at the Dallas A&M Club Coach's Night. I'm 69 now and it's one of the highlights of my life, and the proceeds are for charity. Thanks to the Dallas County Constable (wish I could remember his name)who owns the plane and donates his time for this. Gig'um!
