I see where Cabelas is having a sale on there quantum line. I have never used quantum but like the looks of the quantum energy and have read good and bad things about it.
Anyone own one and can help?

I don't own any Quantum reels but have seen literally thousands of them in the "returned, refurbished," reel racks at the Bass Pro Catalog outlet.

I've got one that I've used hard for 3 or 4 years and it works great. It probably needs a little oil and grease, but most reels do after that kind of use.

I have a buddy that is sponsored by Quantum and would send his back every winter to Quantum for service. I'd have to say many were so worn out they would just replace them.

If you don't fish a lot I'd say get it and it'll last you a few years or so. If you want something that lasts years though find the Shimano Citica on sale and get it. Better product!

I do have some rather old Quantum Energy spinning reels (10 years old) but they don't get used much. JMO.

i bought two of them last year, a 6.3:1 and a 7:1, i use the 6.3 more than any other reel i own and its held up great. they are the the best IMO. i like them because theyre heavy. i bought one of the tour editions this year and took it back cause i couldnt tell a difference in the tour and energy.

i know, it sounds crazy. but for some reason when i pick up an mg50 or the revo premier or steez they feel cheap. now i know they are awesome reels, and ive fished with all but the steez and i loved them. but i like a little extra meat!

Chad, I feel the same everytime I pick up a Core. I've got 50 Mgs and Premiers and they don't feel cheap for some reason, though they all weigh about the same. The Core reminds me of my old 202s with the way it feels. I'm sure I'd love fishing with it.
