We have a lakehouse on Lake Travis near Lago Vista, and have tried catching a big catfish there for years. The water is clear and deep, but we cannot seem to ever get a cat over 5 pounds interested in biting anything. Looking for some tips from anyone that may have fished Lake Travis before as to suggested bait, hook, time, etc. Nothing would make my 5 year old son happier than to catch one bigger than he is. Thanks in advance.

thats the problem. It is hard to fish clear water lakes. Try setting out jugs with fresh cut shad about 3 feet off the boottom and 6 feet off the bottom. Put a heavy weight on it or else it'll end up at marble falls

Try fishing up close to Mansfield Dam. if I remember right there should be a park on the Hudson Bend side of the dam. the catfish like to hang out in that area. Also try fishing off of some of the cliffs. sometimes they like to hide in the cracks in the cliffs. Hope thats helpful. good luck!

Live Perch,Fresh-cut-Perch and Live Perch, rigged 1'-2' off bottom...3-way swivel works good...
Also chumming... Might bring in more small ones, but never hurts IMO...

And most important, a lot of Patience...lol
