Here's a suggestion. Even though I'm in a boat now I have been using 30# braid with at least one ounce lures. Little George, Tailspinners, etc. I can throw half way across the vine chasing sandies. This would work great from the bank too. Just don't let up coming back into shore or the fishsticks will bite it off. I learned from experience not to use mono doing this. The line will stretch thin and the lure will just keep on flying after a few dozen throws.

I am heading out there tomorrow morning, not sure exactly where yet. Still checking over my maps, as I have never fished GVine before. PM me if you have any secret spots you don't mind seeing someone else in once every month or so Or otherwise if anyone is going out, wouldn't mind company.

So...report from today
Started out about 5am, throwing some topwaters. After about 20 minutes of fighting my new fishing reel, finally got it dialed in. Promptly hooked into a 4.5 lber on a white buzzbait. Proceded to catch 2 more, somewhere between 2 and 3 lbs. Sun came up, boaters were everywhere, so I decided to relocate.
After figuring out my cryptic directions, I finally made it to the 2nd place on my list today. Started off tossing a white spinnerbait in some....sticks....and managed to catch 3 pretty quickly. They went from 1.5 - 3 lbs. Got tired of tossing the spinnerbait, switched over to some soft plastics. Caught 1 more, around 2 lbs on a brush hog.
Sun was getting hot and I was hungry, but I saw some "items" of interest, so decided to go over and fish them. After about 20 minutes I got a huge bite and set the hook on a monster. He immediately doubled my rod over, stripped line from my drag, and after about 30 seconds took off under one of the previously mentioned "items" and broke my line. There were a couple other guys there fishing....but none of us had any luck after that, so I came home.
Hope anyone else out there fishing this morning had as good or better luck than I did.
For His Glory
