Will packs from a V4 work on a V6?? I have some for a V4 that we can try instead of buying new ones.

the v6's have a "shift interrupt" switch that cuts power to one bank while shifting, if it gets stuck, you'll lose fire. The switch is in the vicinity of the shift lever under the bottom carb. spark on one bank of cylinders rules out stator, just leaves powerpack and timer base. www.shop.evinrude.com click on 'electronic parts catalogue' you can cross reference part numbers.

knocking a wire off, would just cause the switch to not function, other words, you'd be shifting a full rpms.
if it's the switch that's causing the problems, it's because it's stuck in the 'on' position, doesn't spring back up after the shifter passes over it. if that makes sense?
but yeah, it's wired to the ignition.
