I would like to stay close by but don't need a nice place because we are going to be on the water some where all day...all three days!! have any of you guys stayed at this place? If so is it tolerable? All we need is a bed, shower and AC.....and of course 3 evening meals at the Red Snapper Inn!!! HELP????

I have not stayed there , but I have a buddy who has. He will not go back. We always stay at one of the chain motels(Holiday Inn Express, Super 8, Quaility Inn) in Lake Jackson, its about 12 miles from Bridge Harbor/Surfside.

Yea that's what I was planning to do as well. I have stayed at the LaQuinta there in Clute. It's not too nice but it will do. We will likely just stay on Thursday night June 18th, go out on Friday and leave Friday night to goto Port Oconnor. We are taking my buddies 24 foot Ranger and he knows that are better for <20 mile runs. Thanks for the info. I have noticed alot of Human Sand Fleas in the surfside area. We ALWAYS stop off at the Red Snapper Inn for dinner but the Purple Cow is disgusting. LOTS of sand fleas. Once when we were there two of the local fmale fleas wondered in at 11 am, bottle in bag, to drink and play video poker. One of them hit on my buddy so we hauled AAA! Thanks again.

Scooter, ck out the Day's Inn in Clute, just down from LaQuinta. Tell 'em you're TFF and they should kick you a discount. they have for the last 2 times I've stayed there, incl. TFF quatro tuna '07. Cheap, no roaches, no frills, Connie breakfast @ 5am. ck 'em out! tight lines -Brian

Thanks LL. Yea we decided to use one in Clute. I think we're at the Motel 6. It's $52+ Tax. We're probably just going to be there on Thursday night June 19th. I think we're going to go to Port O after the offshore thing and fish down there. If somehow we get lucky and have a great forecast then we'll stay and go out in my buddies 24ft Ranger. If not we'l burn fuel to Port O. Thanks again.

Sorry lite-liner the days inn sucks as do all the hotels on that strip of road. The hiliday Inn express is the only exception, it is nice, only $95 per night. I have stayed at every hotel down there, most suck with hard beds etc Jeff

Jeff, some of us can't cover $100 a nite just to sleep & shower. I guess it depends on one's own tastes/limitations.

I hear you but I would like to know what the place is like Jeff. Is the room the size of a typical Laquinta or is a bit bigger? Is it one room or does it like a suite. Does it have a mini-kitchen? For $100 and being on the intercoastal I doubt it but I had to ask. I've got a party of 4. Would you recommend 2 rooms at the yacht club? Liteliner, I hear you....BUT.....we are bringing a boat so thier may be other costs that we can ommit by stayin there. 24 miles round trip each day to Clute=$12 truck fuel. Boat launch each day=$10-12. That's $24 so we're withing the price range that most of the common hotels in Clute are posting on their websites. Now add in the time it takes for the travel for 3 days. After a possible 3 days offshore....heck...that's worth the price of the room. Different strokes. I am a tightwad but I don't get in the salt much anymore so it might be a good deal for me.

Scoot the rooms at Bridge harbor Yacht Club are fine, typical hotel, crappy tv though. The good part is they all have a full kitchen, stove, full size refrig with dishes, plates, coffee maker etc. That is a big plus for me. Also to be able to fully rig the boat the night before and have 24 security (LeeRoy) watching the boat and not having to launch in the morning, you just step on the boat, start her up and motor out, and oh by the way there is tons of bait in the marina just cast out under the lights. Then I stop at Bridge bait just for ice because when i put ice in my lockers the night before too much of it melts. Like I said I have stayed at every place down there and I am sold on BHYC when you add it all up.

You guys both just made very valid points to me. I am wrong, that is a better deal. is the slip included w/ the room cost, or is it extra? for all associated costs, it seems about the same to me w/ less headache/chance for drama! good lookin out, Jeff! -B

I stay there when my buddie brings his boat down to go offshore, but we have to launch at the Bridge Bait ramp, then motor over to the BHYC. I agree with Jeff about the rooms, we only stay at the hotels in Clute if BHYC is full.
Jeff I may contact you the next time we go down there, maybe we can buddy boat......

Would love to buddy boat. I only go with a single boat when I have to! Liteliner I did forget about the boat slip fee of $35/night so it is not quite as cheap as I made it appear, sorry. Try it out you may like it.

We got a real good show last time we stayed at the Surfside Motel (about 5yrs ago). A cop kicked in the door of a room and drug a guy down the stairs and proceeded to rough him up pretty good in the parking lot. I got tired of watching this take place, as it was becoming somewhat needless after a while, and went to offer my assistance while the officer cuffed and stuffed the dude. So I held the guys legs while the cop cuffed him. We both then threw him in the car. The arrestee was cussing me for helping the cop, but what he didn't realize is I was actually helping him, because that cop was puttin' a good hurt on him.
Never did find out why it all started.
We'll never stay there again. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't our cup of tea either. Not even before the dust up occurred.
Jay

We ended up staying at the Motel 6. It was just as disgusting as the days inn and laquinta. What is the deal with all the crack heads that come out like roaches on the coast. Everywhere we went at night had at least one. A lady came out of the woods while we were packing down the boat on Saturday night. She said that she had been sleeping in the woods for 3 days and just needed 8 more dollars to get a room. We said no and she replied that seh didn't mind working for it. My reply then was hell no! The whole time we were there we saw 1 cop and that was at Lupe's eating dinner. They need some more cops to sweep the streets at night and clean that place up before it looks like the scene around the Broaway Cemetary on the island. The fishing rocked though!!!
