CLEARING IT UP

I run the fishing section at Academy in Lufkin.
Lets get a few things straightened out.....

1. Academy doesn't buy their stuff at the beginning of the year. What kinda statement is that? We buy stuff all year. how could you possibly keep stores stocked if you only bought it at the beginning of the year.

2. It has nothing to do with the sporting goods manager leaving.
No Fishing manager in the academy chain is responsible for the empty zoom shelves.

3. THE REASONNNNN the zoom aisle was empty ( its full now by the way).. is because zoom massively produces those baits and pours WHAT THEY WANT
WHEN THEY WANT and then it is sent to the academy distribution center in some serious bulk. then distributed to the stores.

the individual academys dont buy the items were sold out of. If somebody buys it then the computer replinshes it. If its not at the Distribution center then they company hasnt sent their order to the warehouse.

Hope this helps.. smile

p.s. any problems with zoom items in academy sports and outdoors is ZOOMS fault not academys.

Sorry if you think I stepped on your toes,I am sure you remember when Zoom was on sale 2 or 3 months ago,it was a good sale but afterwards the shelves were bare.I went back 3 times to try to buy some zoom worms and the shelves looked just like they did after the sale.I am not trying to put you on the spot and I am aware that Academy is a sponsor of this forum and I am sure we appreciate it,But even you have to admit that this Academy store could stand some improvement in re-stocking.We are near one of the premier lakes in Texas and Tackle is a big seller in this area.

well said magic carpet. i was an academy manager, team sports, for a year and a half, and you're exactly right. Zoom pours when and what Zoom wants. Just because we are out of watermelon red speed craws or whatever, they don't particularly care. How many academy stores are there now? 105? Say each one is supposed to have 12 packs of a particular plastics. That's 1260 on hand. We have a sale, and now they're all gone in a week. It takes longer than a week for zoom to get them poured, shipped to the academy distribution center, and sent to the stores. That's assuming zoom pours for demand, which it apparently doesn't. So maybe the DC keeps another 500 on hand, and they go to the stores that do the most volume. Still waiting on zoom at the end of the day.
