No way, no sir! But I will compare Richard to Sandy Koufax. They both are shaped like angel hair pasta yet they can both do some incredible things. Richard casts a method ball farther than I have ever seen anyone cast a lead. I expect him to win most, if not all, of the distance events.

Angel Hair Pasta? Hmmm I represent that remark! How about an unrestricted method lead category?

All

I just came back from outside, where I casted my kid's Barbie rod 102 yards with a 1/32 of an ounce split shot, 2 pound line, and a 20mph wind towards my face!

True story...

I still think there should be just 1 comp, everyone brings their own rod / reel, attaches on the official comp weight and gets 3 casts, avg length of 3 casts wins. wink

dmunsie I am beginning to agree with you. Based on what lou_a said in this sister post, there is a lot more to it than what I saw at a glance.

For example, the world record multiplier/baitcaster video clip I posted of a 116 meter cast was for the 18 gram class. There are a bunch more other weight classes. Furthermore the multiplier/bait caster reels that they are using are so modified that you cannot even fish with them. The reels are mounted on the butt rather than above the handle. In other words they are where a fly reel would be.

Its all just too strange. I want to know about casting gear that one can actually fish with.

Lets just get together and cast on a field somewhere. No rules. What we learn from this we can apply to a larger more formal event in the future.
