I really do appreciate everyone's input. I haven't given up I'm waiting on that "aah hah" moment with great anticipation. RIght now it's just frustration.

Cabinetmaker You asked about a baitcaster for light lures with light line. I'm pretty happy with a BPS Prolite Finesse reel, about 100 bucks retail but often on sale, esp. when purchased with a rod combo for around a buck and a half. It's a small reel, and kinda cute.
'Course, you need a light action rod as well, more important than the reel, IMHO.
