Hey guys the Briskets have been donated by the Owner's of Fantastic Sam's in Taylor. We heard from them today and Dave will be picking them up. Due to some mis/non communication, it was implied that they were not going to donate after all. They ARE donating and we thank them for this generous donation.

I apologize for anything that I said negatively about the ordeal.

And thank you John Christopher with Sloppysecondsonline.com for cookin' it up for us. I would also like to thank all of the donaters individually but that list is so long I wouldn't know where to start. So all I can say is thanks all and God Bless each and everyone of you. You have made this dream into a reality. flag

I wanted to give you an idea of where we are with donations. For a more detailed list visit the take a soldier fishing website under the Granger Event.

As of this second we have been given approximately $5500 worth of merchandise for the bbq, door prize drawing, and goody bags. This does not include any monetary donations made by businesses or individuals. Not bad for our first year huh!

Allright a update from the coors side. The banners are ready and I will pick them up tomorrow. Also Coors has donated 3 fishing rods and reels. They are those telescoping poles and slide down real small but they are kind of neat. Also have about 50 caps donated by the shiner beer guy, 50 koozies donated by the lone star guy, 40 stress releaving squeeze cans by coors, and I think the corona guy is going to donate about 50 or so key chains. Coors is also donating 5 cases of silver refreshments for the ice chests. I did try to get a coke guy to pitch in some cokes but he said he couldnt.

Shawnee,
I have yet to talk to you about the donuts but will go ahead and pick them up. I got the money and the time, they open at 4 and have a 24 hour drive through according to the website.
If you placed a particular order, I just need to know what name you have it under and let someone know at RRD that I will be picking them up!
My plan is to get there at 4:30 or so and get to the lake around 5:30 or so.
My # at work is 512-304-0293.

It's a shame that Ted Nugent wasn't able to attend. He doesn't know what he is missing. Maybe next year.

Shawnee,
I called RRD and let them know that I would be picking up the order at 4:30- 5:00am. They said that you ordered 17 doz.
AS far as she knows they have not been paid for. You don't have to pay for them if you want me to that is ok with me. I am donating 100 bucks anyway. Let me know. BTW they only have one location. They closed the one in Pflugerville.
Call me at work and leave me a message about what you want me to do about the payola.

Kevin

Zach will be calling you when he gets a chance to work out the details.

I gotta run these kids to the grandparents so they can keep them for the weekend. If anyone needs me you can call me on my cell phone. Just pm Zach for the number. Later!

Oh yeah..the UPS man just brought some shirts from the Astros. Haven't had a chance to count them yet, looks like about ten.

The event made the Taylor dailypress newspaper. Don't believe everything you read. Here is a blip from the article and I quote

"Event coordinator David Biester is planning events at 10 different lakes throughout the year, some in the Dallas/Fort Worth area."

This ain't gonna happen. I told the reporter I was the event coordinator for Granger and Granger only. I did tell him about the other events throughout the state. Amazing how the press doesn't listen.

I'm absolutely shocked by the article in the paper. Floored to be exact. First of all let me go ahead and state that yes I contacted Ted Nugent. No he is not coming this year. I spoke with his agent, and can post the emails here if need be. I let her know that he would be getting an invite for the event next year as well and would do what I could to get him here. So as you all know, when I get a goal in mind, I do whatever I can to acheive it. Therefore I PLAN on getting Ted Nugent to come, however it is not guaranteed nor did he commit to this.

Second of all, although we appreciate any donation, especially the donation of the briskets, I do not believe that the article should have completely revolved around one sponsor. We have many sponsors. After the event I will be sending each sponsor a thank you letter, a picture of the group, and will be placing ads in the local paper thanking them as well. WE THANK ALL OF OUR SPONSORS, BIG AND SMALL.

Sincerley,

Aide to Mr. Biester (sorry I couldn't resist)

P.S. Thank you Taylor Auto Credit for your donation!

from one of Mr. Biester's flunkies (I couldn't resist either)...Dave I was the Pulic Info officer for KPD and can tell you that even printed press releases get "interpreted" by the press. You got some publicity, that's what counts. You're doing a hell of a job and everyone that counts knows it! You too Mrs. SD..

ICE....I need some help from anyone in the Killeen area...I've figured that I can only get about half of it in coolers in my PU..can anyone help? I'm going to try and pick it up around 4am Sat...

I will make the soldiers hold one bag each in their laps as we drive to Granger!! That way they will be chilled out from all the excitement. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work. We have a carwash tomorrow as a fund raiser for our guys as well. My schedule is full FO SHO! This will be something to remember. I would also like to thank our event coordinator of all 10 events Mr. Biester! LOL Couldn't resist. You take the press there Dave. It is all you. Just remember I got your back man....(way back!) wink Later Mike
