Ok i can recognise and name every fish that i see in the public lake i am allowed to fish in every once in a while... all except one that is. It is and usually between the 2-5# range sort of shaped like a freshwater drum but the two fins in the front go up instead of off from the fishes sides.... it may be an herbivore from the way its mouth looks but i'm not sure. Any guesses on the type of fish this?

If it's in a private lake it was likely purchased and stocked there for a reason. I would leave it alone unless the lake owner wants it messed with.

Oh he doesn't mind if i take anything out. So, it is a grass carp everyone agrees it looks like that pic above but i am sure the fins on the side(dunno what they are called) where not going out the side but more up like a 180 degree angle strange i have never seen that before.

those grass carp are pretty expensive and you have to get a permit from the state to even have them so personally I would leave them in there. I used to manage private lakes and stocked them all over the state but it does take alot to get them. they are the reason you don't have weeds.

My best is 65.5 pounds from Whitney, so you have to beat that koko if you think you have a record.

If you caught a 65 pound grass carp it would have been a new stae record. The current state record for PUBLIC waters is 53.5 pounds the fish I caught was 55 pounds but I caught it in a private lake.
