I'm going kayaking/camping on the Colorado river next weekend with my g/f and several friends. We'll be putting in at Webberville and then paddling 8 miles, primitive camping and then paddling 8 more miles to the take out point in Bastrop. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this stretch of river? I'd like to do a little fishing was wondering what kind of fish are there and what kind of bait to use.
Thanks in advance!

I've never fished that exact stretch, but I have fished upstream from there. You should find largemouth and maybe the occasional white bass and crappie. Throw small plastics, small cranks, and topwaters and you should get bit.

We paddled most of the day yesterday and I fished a little along the way. Tried several lures but never got a hit. Last night when we camped I rigged for catfish and left the bait out. This morning the bait hadn't been touched. The water is flowing pretty fast and where we camped it was swift with no cover for fish. I'm sure there are fish there but I didn't have enough time to go and find them.
