...I fish out of a small bass boat & my fly line gets hung on everything...I am thinking about carrying a 5 gal bucket to strip line into, anyone else use that ? or something else ? I considered laundry basket but it might be to big...or is it not worth the trouble & I just need to watch what I'm doing & be a more neater (tidy?) fisherman ?
The five gallon bucket sounds like that may work. I lost a fish one day because I had too much line stripped in and I pulled him in, and he got caught up in the mess. When I tried to unravel the line, that is when he got off. (a bass) Let me know how that works for ya.

On my buddies boat i always strip over the side into the water. Keeps the fly line smooth and keeps my casts long. Although this could be all wrong? Im a NOOB.

sounds like you need a stripping basket, or learn to coil your line better at your feet. I forgot who was showing me (I think LHD) but someone was stripping line and coiling in the same hand at the same time. Freaky
I made a stripping basket out of a 10x12 Sterlite basin. Used Weedeater line to make 2" fingers and hot glue them in place. Works great in the boat to prevent tangles with cleats or trolling motor.

Fish safe to fish again.
I can't find the article at the moment, but I read about a guide using a smaller collapsible leaf bag for a boat stripping basket. I remember looking them up and they were much cheaper than the ones made specifically for fly fishing.
