that is a very good question, but more time on the water will never be replaced by a book. put as much time as you can on the water and try many different things till you see what the fish like. i have found that sometimes i catch trout with a slow reel in and where my spoon is just off the bottom and then i have caught trout reeling very fast to keep the spoon on top. i have got into the trout on the beach front using a silver spoon and you had to reel as fast as you could and i would hookup almost every cast with keeper trout. its getting to be that time of the year and i can't wait. same with rattletraps and others. hope this helps a little bit.

MirrOlure - "Twitching the lure will cause it to dart side to side. Vary the speed of your retrieve to vover the entire water column. Also twitching the lure three of four times then pausing for a count of five, will allow the lure to sing deeper."

For MirrOlure models -She Pup, She Dog, He Dog - Just use the walk the dog approach.

Gulp Shrimp - Can be fished on a Poppin cork setup, with a verticle hook, carolina rigged, or on a screw lock jig head. Awesome under a cork.

Spoons - Gold spoons are pure redfish killers. In the surf I like fish them medium fast with the spoon bounching off the bottom from time to time. In deeper water, I generally fish them faster and have longer pauses to allow the lure to sink longer. When they are active in the morning and near dusk I just use a fast strait retrieve.

Top water - Walk the Dog action, You Tube it.

Norton Sand Eels - Fish like a freshwater jig, bounce it on a sandy bottom on a jig head or slowly drag it over oyster beds. Use lots of jerks tho, fish love it. It's basically a plastic jerk bait, which is what it is marketed as. a 3/16 or 1/16th screw lock jig head is perfect. Too many ways to fish this so let the fish tell you how they want it that day.
