This question is mainly directed to Fly. I was bream fishing today at a local creek. I did the unthinkable and slipped down a concrete embankment with my five wt rod and reel. (yes my rear is sore) The brand new reel handle got marred up pretty good. Would I be able to get a replacement for it? It looks like all I need to do is unscrew it, and pop a new one in, then replace the flat head screw, and presto...almost brand new again. Can I get one, or will I have to special order one, or how would I go about getting a new one? It is the retrieve handle only. The rest of the reel is okay.

Is Hobbs Creek a BassPro house brand? Several of the google results are BassPro links.

I've heard that Cabels's Prestige reels are Okumas. They must be - the parts drawings for my Prestige and SLV have the same numbers for the handle knob and screw.

Yes, it is a BPS reel. A guy at BPS talked me into it because of their warranty. I had thought of getting a cheap Ross reel instead. (it only has a 6wk or 6mo warranty though...cannot remember now) I have a Ross reel that was pretty cheap, and came prestrung...I love it. The BPS reel seems to be a good one, but time will tell on both!

DOH!...I was tired and read it poorly.
How's the fanny there Kel? Hope it's still in working order.
Did you gat a parts list when you bought your Hobbs Creek? There should be a warranty card somewhere. That warranty card should have a website or other addy or even an 800 number.
You should also have a break down diagram.
I'm not at work til Thursday (wifey doctors' stuff) but if you'll call me at (469) 221-2600 ext 4045 I should have some info handy. We can move forward from there. Sorry your bumper took a beating, kinda gives new meaning to "skidmarks" doesn't it smile

The butt is fine, just a little sore where I hit.
I forgot about that parts list in the box. I will look at it, thank you. Sorry your wife is still having a hard time. I will send more prayers for her, and you.

It just says part number 27...handle knob. I already knew it was a handle knob. No number...800 or otherwise. No website. Nothing. No warranty card inside either. Just the part list, and my receipt are in the box. Weird how it has a list, but no number to order them.

Oh it also said Made to White River Fly Shops specifications in Korea. This is on the outside of the box...plus basspro.com I guess I will have to email BPS for help.

BPS sent me a phone number to get another part. The part dept seems to be away a lot. After playing phone tag I finally got a hold of them and ordered my part, under warranty. I should have it in a a couple of weeks.

Well I got my new handle in this afternoon. BPS came through for me on the handle, and didn't charge me a dime. :-)

I was very pleased yes, and you cannot beat the price...hehehe. I wonder if Ross would of sent me a free handle? Dunno... I love that reel and don't want to find out. These are cheap reels granted, but hey...I like 'em and that is what counts!
