Try Thunderbird Lodge. Its off RR2341, north from hwy. 29, just east Burnet. Stayed there many times for family deals.

Thunderbird HIGHLY recommended. They have covered boat slips and even a covered dock for your family if you don't have a boat. Not to mention Morgan Creek ain't to bad a place to fish either ! Owners really look after their customers !

Seems like everything's a bit pricey there, compared to Amistad. If you're looking to economize, you might check out Chism Lodge, operated by the venerable Ms. Chism, 325-379-6331. I usually stay at Thunderbird, though, which gives you a large cove protected from southerly winds. The scenery along the cove is about as interesting as anything you can find in the Hill Country. Those covered slips, too, are very convenient.

I've stayed at Cottonwood Cove, not great but OK. People were really nice, facilities were clean. Cabins had all the cooking and eating utensils provided. Way up on the north end, so a long way from the dam and places to eat out.

Too bad Paradise Point was completely destroyed a few weeks ago by the storm. The place was the best BY FAR on the lake. Covered dock house, boat slips/ramp, diner, and bait all in one place. Is the dock at Thunderbird worth fishing? Never heard of anything being caught there...
Might look up Silver Creek just down the road from Thunderbird. They have a ramp and a very small pier that can get crowded, but you can net all the shad you want out of that cove at night!

I also stayed at Cottonwood Cove a couple of months ago and I would go back there. It's not a Holiday Inn, but has all of the amenities you would want. The Wine Vinyard is also just up the road from there and a MUST tour and sample wine tasting recommendation. (And I don't even like wine!)

I like Silver Creek Lodge, located on the upper end of the lake. In case the winds get bad, you can get up the river and be out of the wind...

However, if you want to fish deeper water, then stay near the dam.

If you want to fish lighted boat docks for striper, then try Thunderbird Lodge or Council Creek Lodge. CCL lodge is in the back of council creek. They have a large halogen light that gathers shad and whites/striper at night. It is on the East side of the lake. Thunderbird and CCL are within about 1 mile of each other..

If bringing kids, I like Canyon of the Eagles...I have parked my motorhome in the RV section. Also they have nice cabins, too.

I stay at the Hi Line or Lake Point Cottages. Just depends on which end of the lake I am mainly fishing.
