weird thing, i could feel his heart beat so i took a quick picture and let him go. i thought i had a monster catfish, also hooked 2 more big things but could not see where they were, i think i have dialed in on them with the right fly. im going back up tomorrow. ill try 30 minutes for these things then switch back to striper.

Is that whats all over on the bottom up there? I know I saw tons of sucker type fish last week when I was up there. We need to meet up Artan, I think Chad and I are gonna go later this week, maybe Thursday. Maybe you can show us your secret fly for funky fish!

nice sucker Artan. Now why would you want to kill a cool fish like that with a bow and arrow?

You can't, it is a protected fish.

OK, so for those of us not so good on visual fish ID, is that an actual grass carp? If so, because you said it was protected, is it in a lake where it was released on purpose? One last question, if grass carp are herbivores, then what did it think it was eating when it sucked up a San Juan worm?

Txredraider,
It is a Blue Sucker. A native gregarious fish of large rivers. A bottom feeder that would eat both small insects, crustaceans, and plant matter such as algae. It is protected because it is on the Texas Threatened or Endangered list.

I've carp fished the river before generation before.

buffalo, blue sucker and river carp sucker and common carp.

I changed the name of my band to "3 out of 4 suckers" for about 30 minutes after that.
