Anybody out there have a homemade steak marinade they'd be willing to share? Below is a favorite of mine that goes together with a minimum of fuss. I use it on ribeyes and pork butt steaks. Good Stuff!

1 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 large cloves of garlic (crushed)
4 tbl spoons brown sugar
2 tsp ginger

Mix all ingredients well then pour over 4 large steaks. Let sit for 1 to 5 hours in the fridge then grill till they're done to your liking.

I go with a dry rub of salt and pepper to taste, a dash of paprika, cumin, and garlic powder. I put a little bit of steak sauce on the tops of the steaks and rub all of it in. Then, I soak the steaks in Worcestershire sauce and finish it off with some beer to get it to just below the tops of the steaks. Marinate for 30 minutes on each side. Good stuff, but you can also buy Choice or Prime steak, and you don't need the marinade!

On those rare times when I marinate a steak.

Lots of garlic and a red bell pepper, fresh black pepper and about 1/2 cup red wine. run it through the blender and put it in a large baggie with the steaks. Marinate for 3 to 6 hours. Pull the steaks out and grill then make the marinade into a pan sauce.

I use Stubb's Beef Marinate and it is so awesome! I have made my own but he does it perfect.

This sounds like Dales steak marinade (except for the brown sugar). Great stuff!

To be honest, the best steaks I have ever eaten are kept simple, nothing but salt and black pepper, cook for about 1.5 to 2 minutes a side on a hot fire and you have one fine piece of meat.

Why do people not like the taste of beef? Marinade only covers up the taste. Kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper only. It's what's for dinner!

Just pour rock salt straight to "top sirloin cut" both sides and grill to medium - medium rare. Brazilian way.
Also remember, more fat on the meat, the better it gets. "FAT" means "FLAVOR" and all seasoning you get is from the meat cut itself. Look simple but need a little bit skill.

Why do people season any food? Because it makes good food better. Viva la difference.

marinate the steaks in jalapeno juice for a couple of hours. This works really good on venison steak.

There are probably exceptions but, it seems to me the more done you like your steak, the more likely you are to want it soaked in a marinaide. I guess the "juiciness" gets cooked out of the meat by making well done so there needs to be "extra" added to it.

I like rare/med-rare steak and salt/pepper are all it takes.

I guess I am either the exception or just do not like the taste of unseasoned steak cause I like it med/rare and "juiced up" with garlic, worchestshire, honey, black pepper, moore's marinade, etc, etc. But I also really "juice up"/marinate/season my chicken, brisket, turkey, boston butt pork roast, fish/seafood, soups, baked taters, even salads etc, etc. (And my blood pressure and cholesterol are very low!)

Don't forget the best steak marinade part # 2 is to cleanse the palate with a stand up red wine like Cabernet or Zinfandel.

If your last bite of steak is as flavorful as the first bite, then you've gotten your money's worth out of the cut.

Complementary palate cleansing red wine makes this possible.
