Hey meP,
This is the route that I take.

287 to Dumas
87 to Clayton, NM and on to Raton. This road is much improved and although it is a two lane, there are several passing lanes now.

At raton, take Super Slab I 25 all the way up.

I took 287/385 up through Lamar, CO once and the road was rough as it could be. They may have improved the road by now, but I doubt it.

The last time I was up that way Co had a bunch of road repair going on south of Springer. The fastest way is Nuts way.

That's my route. Going this summer in about a month. Not bad roads at all.

we stop at raton, then finish the drive the next day. 9 hours to raton, good place to stop. make sure and make reservations.
