Okay I need to change the plug that connects the lights from the trailer to my truck...After 22 years the dang thing has been abused so much it has some slight cuts and doesn't stay working constantly....

I didn't install it since I was only 11 when we bought the truck and I've never had to replace one before, so....

It has a bunch of electrical tape wrapped around it, not sure why...Will I be able to just replace the plug part or am I going to have to rewire the whole thing?

Any help is appreciated...

I would think that you can just replace the plug but I would make sure that you use waterproof connectors. You can buy connectors that you crimp onto the wires and then apply heat. The tubing shrinks and melts an adhesive onto the wires. When it cools the wires are crimped together and the connector makes a waterproof connection. The adhesive also helps hold the wires together.
