On 2800 acres eight miles long can't you just step out onto the bank and catch a ride back to the truck????

Was there yesterday, went up under the highline balls, lake is very red/muddy. Gate lady said it had rained last three days, and they got it again last night. Water temp 81+ in most areas. We did not catch anything yesterday in 8 hours, save your gas until the water clears up.

YOur funny Krappie. He tried to explain in the first page what Henry actually is.It's like a 20 + mile long river.Steep canyons, lots of fingers and DEEP.Our ramp is basically in the middle, and we can run 8 - 10 miles in either direction.Lots of twists and turns. So ya a 10 mile run trying to beat a storm isnt much fun.For someone thats not impressed with our little impoundment, you seem to spend alot of time talking about it ?

Well, we made it out Friday night. The bite was slow, light and pretty much what I expected. It was also a great night to be on the water. No wind, and hardly a ripple on the water. After working in an office for weeks, there is more to it than just catching fish. More fish would have been good, but it was still a great night.

I haven't been to the lake, but I passed over the Brazos on the way to Dallas Friday morning and the river was fairly wide, running swiftly, and extremely muddy. We drove back on HWY 380 so I missed the river bridge up stream from AH, but the Brazos we crossed east of Post was running and muddy on Saturday afternoon. I'll be ready for a late afternoon-through the night trip later this week, but don't know if it'll be settled down that quick. I made a couple of sandbass trips in April and since then have been grounded by work. Real estate may be slow on the east and west coasts, but it is hopping in Lubbock City, Texas.

Krappy you just need to come down and catch all of the lunkers to break a record of some sort since you are that good. Once you get thru you will not have a reason to come back for a while or be on AH thread. Just do it!!!!!! I am interested to see a real fisherman come and catch em'.

We did go out Saturday night. Rain and all. The thunder and lightening let up just before dark. The rain did not let up until about 11:00 Most of the rain from dark till 11:00 was light. We put on the rain suits and settled in for some wet fishing.

And they slammed everthing we put in the water. Must have caught a 100 or more. ALL DINKS! One keeper was all that we saw, but it was still a rather pleasant evening on the water. Rain suits kept us dry and temp was great. Loading the boat with keepers would have been nice, but that is not everything in fishing.

Alan Henry sucked again, went July 3, fished all day, did not catch anything. Did see some bass chasing shad south of the dam, threw everything I had at them, they kept moving out ahead of us. Then the jet skis and Miami Vice boats showed up. Will not be going again until later this year, it was way to hot this time.

WAIT A DARN MINUTE YOU ONLY HAVE ONE BOAT RAMP and you are calling this creek a lake???
As stated earlier in a place where there is no ice water and the red cloaked horned one lives then you can call it anything you like but it is sad that you compare a creek that is DAMNED at both ends a lake equal to the likes of LAKE FORK> AMISTAD>RAYBURN>TEXHOMA> how hard can it be to find fish in a 100 yard wide creek they are every where as the "FISHING REPORTS" show everyone catches fish there........

Alan Henry actually has six boat ramps, but only one is open to the public. The others are either private development ramps, or for lake rangers or Parks and Wildlife use only. As far as stepping off onto the bank and catching a ride home, there are no roads around most of the lake. It is still pretty much ranch land. On most of the lake stepping off your boat onto dry land is what is called "trespassing". Local violators are subject to being shot and survivors are subject to prosecution. Anyone caught on private land and not speaking with a "West Texas drawl" is always assumed to be a "terrorist". Terrorists are NOT a protected species in West Texas. they may be disposed of at will.
However, if you are a true crappie fisherman and decide to come out West to do some "pond" fishing you will be treated well by all the local fisherman, because it is "West Texas", the Giant side of Texas.

Great responce Billy Jack.

I hope you all know I am just kidding about your tiny little stream like lake when I say things like tiny and little and creek, small, weird, tiny, small, itsybitsy and stuff.BBWWWAAAAAHAHAHAAHahahahaahahahahahahaahahahaahaha I know that any size water no matter how small itty bitty creek like narrow and did I say tiny it maybe is still fishing because you or I can't actually see the actual vict TUMs we are searching for thus making even the tiniest little small narrow long skinny tank just almost as hard to fish as a real lake.I am just glad that someone with a "NARROW MIND" was in charge of picking out this lakes building site cause with all the canyons and low land out that way they sure could have made a big ole almost unfishable because it was real sized lake in that area.Keep up the good work I really should not have put anything in here about the lake it should have gone in the BASS fishermens area where they bragg about size and all the money they put into it.If I am shootin for CRAPPIES I would just as soon they be in a water trough to make it easier. But those BASS fishermen should not be aloud to bragg on a fish caught from a "CRAWDAD HOLE.
ROBLES you have to get imagination soon.

Krappy Jig,
You have now just been put on ignore. I suggest the rest of the AH crew do the same. He's not worth being responded too.

Robles that is a great Idea. You know he kinda reminds me of Cameron over in the Bass section except he is in the Crappie section.

Krappy Jig,
I think you've got the "difficult to fish thing" bass-akerds. Small, tiny, narrow, little ponds and creeks are more difficult to fish than large expansive, real lakes like "Fork". When we put our little boats in the water and start the little engines every crappie in the lake hears it and shuts down their feeding. We have to be very creative to get them to bite again. Also we have to learn to be excellent casters. A normal cast just flies across the water to the bank on the other side of the lake and ends up in the trees (little trees of course). All you have to do on Fork is just drive around until you find some ignorant fish that have never seen a fisherman, then sucker them with a fancy Metroplex bait of your choice.
You are still welcome to come fish our little lake with us. Just one thing. Please don't bring a big powerful outboard to our little lake. We don't have time to pull "big lake boys" out of the mud. You put a big motor on the lake, goose it too much, and you'll blow all the water out of the lake leaving you high and dry in your big boat in our little lake!

Don't shoot me for posting in this area, but I am looking for real WTX fishermen who will look on the Alan Henry post.

I have a 42 lb thrust Motorguide TM. Foot control model 12/24 V. on a Gator mount. Talk around if you know someone who needs a good TM. It is older, but works well. Best part, its a freebie to the first South Plains area responder. Send me a PM if interested.

That was actually file footage from an interview last fall. Seems our short change artists are back in town and making good money at it, so I guess they decided to replay it. I really don't like being on tv. I sure hope we can get them ID'd.
