I thought I wanted a rod organizer, but most of he ones you buy limit the number of rods you can carry. I bought nylon rod socks for all of my rods and they slide in an out of the rod locker easily without getting tangled. The ones I bought were less than $2 each at Academy. Then my rods are also protected out of the rod box.

I put a large plastic funnel at the front of my rod compartment. The end was cut out and attached to a 6in. long piece of 4in. dia. PVC. that extends forward under wiring and trolling motor cables.
At the rear I made the rod handle holder out of 1/2" plywood. (plastic would be better) Both were attached to the side of the center compartment. I use Stickjacket covers on all of the rods.(available at Southwestern Parts) Even though all of the rod tips go into the 4" PVC, none of them hang up or catch the eyes because of the Stickjackets. Because of the rear holder keeping the rods separate I can carry 12 rods in 1 compartment.

I have a Moose Head Rod Organizer for sale. I bought it and never installed it. Decided to sell my boat. Do a google search for Mosse Head rod organizer and let me know if you are interested,

What kind of boat was it for? I thought they have to be made for a specific make and modle of boat.

I made my own...with tubes and notched holders...used them for 3 years now and just bought some rod socks at academy...ended up with more rods than holes and the eyes were always getting bent...hope the socks will prevent this...getting rid of the tubes...well in the garage for now till I am sure.

labdog, what was the rod organizer you have made for? And do you have a set of (2) one for each side or (1). Will they work in a 2003 Skeeter SX 190 Dual Console? Thanks (PM Me if you would like)

I have a rod organizer in my new Triton. It is fixing to come out. There is just too much wasted space and it's a pain to get a rod out on the bottom when others are above it. Going back to reel covers. Each cover is color coded for the type of lure, reel, and rod.

Go with the StickJacket, you won't be disappointed. You can get them in many colors to make it easy to find your rod. http://www.stickjacket.com/
