This evening the parking brake cable broke on my 2000 Chevy Silerado 3/4 ton. Anyone ever replaced one of these before? Trying to figure out if this is something I should attempt or take it in. Any idea on costs to have it replaced?

If you're talking about the release handle cable, I've broken and replaced 2 on my 2000 Silverado. Not hard to do. You gotta get kinda contorted to get your hands where they need to be frown

If its the release handle, Blu-Ranger is correct, its a very simple fix. If its the cable itself, which one? The one from the park brake pedal assy, the intermediate cable or the left rear cable or right rear cable. All of the cables are relatively easy to replace.
PM me with more info and I'll give you a quote- that way you'll have an idea of which of your local repair shops want your money and which ones want your business!!

Thanks for the info guys. It is the brake cable itself since it broke when I was applying the brake. I believe the break is in the front after it goes into the tube and up into the cab.

I'd really appreciate the quote J-Spencer.
