hey kurtbushfan. guidos is great italian food, and if u like good fresh po boys, u gotta check out shrimp n stuff. for your burger and tacos. yes they are together. look for charlie burger in old town. I love finding these diners and dive type places. if ur looking for finner foods then I have some of those as well. the kehma boardwalk is nice and about a 25 min drive. well worth it if you need a nice night out.Oh and the spot is a nice place as well right off the sea wall. yea thats the name of the place"the spot"

If you are in Galveston, no need to drive to Kemah, there are better places in Galveston. Gaidos has the best Oysters Rockefeller in the world and Bennos and Saltwater Grill are also good for seafood. The Original Mexican Cafe and Apache for Mexican food. The Spot for Burgers. Fishermans Wharf and Clary's are a little more upscale and very good.

Definitely go to "Fish Tails" on the seawall. Good view, good food. The shrimp kisses are killer!

Gaidos is really good, but is expensive. Right next door, in fact they use the same kitchen, is Casey's. It's not the white linens like Gaidos, but cost less money and is a little more laid back.

If you're going near the Kemah boardwalk, you might wanna make a short trip to Cullen's in Clear Lake. It is the largest restaurant in Texas, and it is also one of the most unique. It is quite nice, and you do pay for it with your pocketbook.

I am not a fan of Gaido's at all. Its way overpriced and the food is mediocre at very best.
Head on down to Freeport for excellent seafood. The Red Snapper is hands down my favorite restaurant in the area. The freshest gulf seafood and decent prices. Its a small place so get there early it gets packed in a hurry. Excellent.

Hope you guys are not confusing Gaidos with Guidos. Gaidos has excellent oyster & crab dishs and gumbo. The platters are just okay. Red Snapper Inn is good, but thats a long drive from Galveston.

If you're looking for a low key, don't get dressed up place with pretty good food, you need to try Benno's.

alright thanks ill be staying right on the seawall so ill definetly try Fish Tails.. dont waste your time, food is expensive, takes forever, and isnt that good. plus, the portions are small. there is a place that used to be on the pier, and moved to the seawall....millers maybe? they just opened back up in march... anyway, they have great food, and generous portions, for a decent price...

One of the best is Willie G's right near the cruise port. It is expensive, but you will not be disappointed. Have not been there in a few years, but ate there a lot from 2000 to about 2005.

The Spot makes a great burger and the o-rings are awesome.
Anybody been to Galveston since the hurricane? Did Gaidos, Casey's, Spot..... and all the others along the seawall make it ok after the storm?

I've seen the SPOT cam. I tried to log on as IKE was hitting...too bad it wasn't working.
I heard it's going to be a few years before it's back to normal. A buddy of mine goes to A & M down there and they haven't been back yet. There house was flooded. He said every other house has severe damage.
I hope it gets up and going again. We were there just weeks before Ike hit and had a blast and ate some good food!

I was there just 5 days before returning from a cruise. Man I hope Gaido's is still there that was good eats. And $25/person for great seafood is not unreasonable at all. I think that I saw somewhere that they were open. Next time try Casey's. It's right next door and they even use the same kitchen, but not as expensive and just as good. Damn... I miss going to Galveston!
