Wow, what can I say. The big fish are really bighting now and they seem to have a very fast changing pattern. Recently they had been wanting minnows over jigs in 12-20ft of water. Now they will only take a jig fished as slow as possible. Large baits worked best they really tore up a few jigums that I had left over also. Ran out of those (need to order), so i switched to Yum Beaver tails and wow! Picked up some slabs. We fished yesterday as it was my wedding anniversay and I took the day off. My biggest 7 fish went over 12lbs. I wonder what it will take to win the tournament! I just tied a loop on the stringer and weighed them with my berkly digital scale. They had been in the cooler all day so I think they would have weighed better alive! Near vertical structure 8-15ft down. It was a AWESOME day of fshing. these were all from 6:15 to 2pm yesterday!!! See yall at the Tourney!

Congratulations Brian on your Anniversary. I have heard from someone else that it will take 12+ pounds to win the tournament. Hoping for more exposure to the giant slabs of Lake Texoma after this tournament.

I'll take 12#'s and take my chances. This time of year that will be a good weight.

Most of the females had some eggs that looked to be digesting, well I dont know how to explain it. They are definatly skinny compared to April. I think that it will not go over 13 unless someone hooks into a serious 3lb fish along the way. I have spots where the conditions are perfect, but I cant fish them in the tourney. I think it will be a different story on the bp's with the sun overhead. It will be a very close tourney in my opinion and the winner will come down to a lot of luck and some good scouting! Im glad it's a 1 pole tourney!

Brian,

Nice Catch! My fish are going to have to get bigger to have any luck at the tourney. My biggest 7 might have weighed 7#'s last weekend.

I thought you could as long as you are 50' from a gas pump and fish from a boat?

At least I hope so because I plan to fish by the "Black Pearl"

I think your right about the marina. I think we plan to do some of that before heading off to big water.

Also my stringer was completly soaked when I weighed my fish. That may have weighed as much as half a pound or so on my cheap 10 dollar scale.

That marina you are in is loaded with fish, and I am sure most up there are. Obie took me and my boy out the Friday before Memorial Day and my first cast with the net I picked up a 17" striper. My second cast I picked up a bunch of small crappie in teh 2-4" range, along with a 14" crappie. a few casts later I picked up a 16" LMB. Had plenty of shad by then, and my son and the other boys all had fun releasing the larger fish, and game fish, back to the water so we headed out on for some striper fishing from the offshore rig.

I'll have to look up "the Black Pearl" next time I am up there. cheers

I have no idea who that obie guy is. I think I have seen his truck, and I know I have seen him take his boat out. That is definatly a nice fishing rig. Wouldnt be too good for crappie though.

Ya, I was going to take my boat out for striper that day, but with the winds and amount of kids we had, we took his out. Did pretty good considering, and my son loved being out on the boat. That is one of the nicer boats I have ever fished out of. I think next year I am going to help him sink some structure around his slip and see if I can't get up there with him to do some duck hunting as well. If I do, I'm sure I'll run into you more often.

BTW, did you get the chum thing worked out up there? still have some milo if you need some.

I may take you up on that, Just want to give it a try. When he wants to sink structure let me know. I think I finally have it figured out.
