Me and a buddy fished Monday, the fishing was great but the catching was slow. We ended up with 4 keepers. I also caught and released this kids fishing pole "Disney Cars". We caught all our keepers in the Aransas channel. We caught lots of undersized reds at the duck blinds. I had a 30" plus red swim right buy me while we were wading. My best catch of the day was a 21 ft cc. We were wating to load the boat at Hamptons and this guy came running towards us yelling to get that boat. I look up and there it comes out of the boat ramp in reverse. We caught it before it hit the wall or another boat. We will be back down there 19-21 to try it again.

The duck blinds are towards Rock Port, if you are coming from Port A they will be on your right you will go past the light house and its maybe 3-5 miles. I just got back from Port A and we caught these at the duck blinds.

when you come out of the channel its 7-9ft we pull the boat into about 2ft and anchor up. we are knee deep when we are fishing.
you will see lots of boats that are fishing out in the deep water and some boats are making drifts across the area. I personally like to get out and wade so I can cover more ground and this time of the year its hot setting in the boat.

Thanks Searay,
I have a 23’ center consol and primarily fish offshore. I spend most of the month of July in PA and last year we wear limited to a handful of decent days do to the wind. If you were restricted to fishing 4-5 foot + water where you go? I am familiar with most of the bay area around PA.

I have a 23ft cc also, there are lots of spots you can fish in the bay. my favorite spot is in the aransas channel for trout you can anchor deep enough to get out and wade, also in front of the lighthouse is a good spot. the oil wheels in CC bay are pretty good also. I was there last year at 4th july also and the weather sucked.

Thanks for the info. I fished the wells years ago in a friends boat. I know there are a couple of entrances to CC bay, which one would you use in a deeper drafting boat? Ingleside? My 23 is a Key West is much more of an offshore boat then bay boat.

I am going the 2nd and staying until the 19th or 20th, then back for the last 5 or so days of July. I will fish everyday the wind permits, and post reports.

I will be arriving the 5th and staying until the 20th. Trying to fish daily wx permitting.

Going to be in a slip in the city marina, camping the local beaches.

Fishing for Kings, Sharks, Reds. Anyone got any suggestions for areas? Anyone willing to share GPS coords?

Current plan is to troll the jetties out, then hit the anchor morage, then finally do some drift fishing for shark. Maybe get lucky and see a few weedlines and get a mahi mahi or two smile

For wat it's worth, seaweed is too bad to troll much unless you get lucky. I've seen a couple of hours where we were clear of weed so far since Sunday.

Seas have been 4' + most of the time since Sunday, got out Sunday past the jetties and again Today. Today seas were 3-4' w/ about 6-7 seconds. A really nice gentle role, peaceful to sleep in while drifting.

Fishing for me has been another thing. I brought only heavy tackel and gear so bay fishing has been difficult. Sunday was a wash, tried using freshwater Perch for bait and got nothing. Mon/Tues was squid and ribbon fish, and lots of hard heads, one skipjack.

Today was one shark while drifting w/ shad....
