My name is Heath Taylor. I have grown up fishing the waters of beautiful Lake Cypress Springs and have spent countless hours locating the best places to catch Crappie. I am now running guided Crappie fishing trips Friday through Tuesday. Trips will be 5 hours starting at 7 am and lasting until Noon. Your catch will be cleaned and bagged after your trip so you can take them home and enjoy the best tasting fish in Texas. Rates are $175 for a guided trip for up to 2 people. This is a great trip for parent/child, husband/wife, or just with your best buddy. If one parent wishes to take 2 children call me to make arrangements. If you have always thought crappie fishing was hard to do come on a trip and I will show you a simple way of catching these great fish. It's as simple as being able to hold a fishing pole. All tackle is provided, all you need is a valid Texas fishing license if you are 17 years of age or older. Other things to bring are a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a cooler to take home your fish. I look forward to fishing with you soon! To book a trip or for more information you can reach me at 903-434-3015 If needed lodging is available at http://walleyegrocery.com/ or if you like you can pitch a tent in one of the beautiful parks around the lake.

Heath,
This sounds awesome. I have bass fished the lake for years, but I don't know the crappie very good. I am going to see when a good time for my girlfriend to go is and I would like to book a trip.
Also, where would we be launching, and how long will the crappie fishing be good for?

Also, where would we be launching, and how long will the crappie fishing be good for? We would meet at Overlook Park boat ramp just past Tall Tree Marina. The crappie fishing will be good for the rest of the summer into the fall. Right now it is better than I have seen it in a long time though. I look forward to fishing with you soon.

Is Overlook Park by the dam, if so which side because I know there is one on each side of the dam?
Also, what kind of fishing will we be doing (brush piles, stumps, docks, etc.)because my girlfriend is not a real experienced at fishing. She would probably need to use minnows, I prefer jigs.

Overlook Park is not one of the parks at the dam..... It is at the dead end of FM 2723 we will be fishing brush piles from 10-20 ft of water and it's ok if your girlfriend is a beginner. I can get her catching fish on a jig with no problems. I don't fish jigs in a very traditional way, but I can bring minnows as well.

Heath,
I know the weekends can get pretty crowded on that lake. Is Saturday or Sunday a better day to go fishing. Also, how is this weekend looking for you?

Weekdays are the best fishing because you have the whole lake to yourself, but weekends aren't bad as long as we are off the water at noon as that's when the pleasure boaters start showing up. Last weekend we fished a tournament till 1 pm and it was not bad at all. I'll have to get back with you tomorrow on my schedule this weekend. I just got a call and may have to work during the day sat. and sun.

Heath, You need to be sure and book a crappie fishing trip on the 14th, it would be easier on the bass population, and easier on us in the Media tournament.

Heath, You need to be sure and book a crappie fishing trip on the 14th, it would be easier on the bass population, and easier on us in the Media tournament. If things keep going like they have you don't have anything to worry about. I've been catching bigger crappie than I have bass lately.

I know what you mean. I cant get down there much, but cant seem to catch keepers when I am there. I think that there must be too many brushpiles and the fish cant make up there minds. Maybe I should just bring my crappie rod next time I am there. Never have fished Cypress for crappie, do you catch them on jigs? colors?

Trap, shades of greens have been working well lately on the jigs.

Saturday would probably be the best day for me. This wind needs to stop blowing.
