I was out fishin' for spotted gar again tonight.

Just for kicks I was using a watermelon crank bait.
after bout 4-5 casts I felt a quick "tap, tap" so I set the hook only to find I was being OWNED by a large, angry fish!
I was thinking.... "Hey, This ain't no gar!"
So here I am, being OWNED, holding the rod in one hand as I'm calling the family on the cell with the other.... not very easy. lol.

As they got there my brother ran to the boat to get the net and I noticed that the fish had got the line tangled on the boat (shredding the line in the proses!). So he got the line free, and not long after that we net the fish.... it turns out to be a NICE 27.5 inch redfish!!


The dern thing almost spooled me 2 different times (there was almost enough line to get across the creek left on the reel).

after that my brother joined me down at the creek fishing, where we both caught 1 LMB each. a typical session, both fresh, and saltwater fish, with in casts of each other!!

Why? Because no one targets carp here. Most everyone targets reds, specs, catfish.... and I've never been one to follow the herd. I would much rather set in one spot and blank, than have to move around all day casting lures for something thats heavily targeted.

Yes, I did eat it, it swallowed the hook so we had to. It died later, just before we cleaned it.
