On 5/31/2008 I was on Lake Lewisville with my family and friends. We were headed back from Party Cove. We were crossing the lake headed to Pier 121. We came upon an overturned boat. Here is a photo:
[img]http://lh4.ggpht.com/wyman.fraley/SENeQi1iLrI/AAAAAAAAAyE/4JgwDRskpUs/Lake%20Lewisville.JPG[img][img]http://lh4.ggpht.com/wyman.fraley/SENeQi1iLrI/AAAAAAAAAyE/4JgwDRskpUs/Lake%20Lewisville.JPG?imgmax=1024[img]

First of all I want to make sure everyone was ok. There was a jet skier that flagged me down and only 2 of the 4 guys in the water had life jackets. I have no idea what or how it happened. I can only imagine that once the boat capsized they were unable to get to the life jackets they had on board. Second of all the other boat you see in the photo towed this guy back to shore. He deserves the "atta boy award". When he got on th scene he had 2 or 3 "customers" on his boat. He picked up 3 of the guys that were on the water and kept them on his boat until the police arrived. Then the police transported everyone back to shore.

If anyone can fill in the missing pieces I would appreciate it. I just want to make sure everyone mad it back home Saturday night. This is the first time I have ever tried to post a photo so if it doesn't turn out forgive me.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad everyone was ok. I'm sorry I never could get the photos to work. I need to get better at being able to upload. I will work on that...

Case and Point, and I hope everyone who runs a boat takes this to heart.

When you need a life jacket, you don't have time to get one! And their could be obstructions or other things that keep you from getting one out, in the event of a capsize. You could be too hurt, lids could be jammed, ect.

Rip and Zip... Other wise it may be RIP!

My engine doesnt get put in gear until everyone aboard has their life jackets on and zipped....no matter how hot they are. It's not a request, either. Either do it, or get out. And if the water is rough, it stays on even when the big engine isnt running. Sure ticks some folks off...but that's how it is. ( they usually never get invited again, if the balk)

Same thing in my boat, and I've swam competitively half of my life as has my younger brother/fishing partner. There is just too much stuff that can unexpectedly happen on the water that could hender your ability to swim if you go overboard. Put em on people so we aren't reading sad articles about you in the news one day!!!
