I'll be hitting it early with my fishin' partner (my 11 year old daughter).

My guess is that this hot weather has driven them deep, but any tips are appreciated. I bought her some of the small lft swim baits in watermelon red in hopes she could coax a biggun out of the cedars as is swam by.

Anyone been out lately? What's the water look like, and how's the bass bitin?

Water is still looking pretty good, couple feet of clarity. Caught 16 in 2 hours yesterday evening. Biggest was around 4lbs several small fish. They were all shallow. Getting some to hit a Lobina Rico but not a whole lot. Haven't been able to get them to hit a swim bait and don't know why. I'm probably just not throwing it enough. Most fish have been on points with deep water near. Common sense. At least some of the fish have been reading the same books as us.

They are calling for a 20 mph wind tomorrow. I know that means it will blow 30 on Ray Roberts so I will probably not fish tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get out Saturday and Sunday.

adam_p,

I saw the forecast too, and I'll probably put in at Buck and go from there. What's a lobina Rico?

Last time I was there I caught mine in the same kind of water but with a baby brushhog in watermelon. Sounds like the pattern might still hold.

I would love to get up there early enough to toss a buzzbait or spook for some topwater action.

I'll let yall know how it goes.

The Rico is a popper, like a Pop-R or a Yellow Magic.
