Nice options. Haven't had Herds, but would pick the Green Frog

Green Frog. I've been eating there since it was downtown when I was a kid. Over 50 years now!! Even got an ashtry from there from the 50's or 60's.

Green Frog. Definitely worth the drive. Always stop there coming back from the deer lease.

We have a family ranch between Olney and Archer City on hwy 79. Good hunting up there. Did you find a lease somewhere else?

I've been to all three and my opinion is, from a burger fans point of view, Dairy Land is, without a doubt, the best. Herd's burger is too small. From what I remember about the Green Frog is it just didn't stick out in my mind as a "Boy I can't wait to go back there". These two places aren't bad but I LOVE me some Dairy Land burgers.

I will say Dairy Land. Man if I eat Chicken Express my gut needs a paramedic. I have to eat two burgers at Herds to fill up.

I never have seen a burger done the way Herds does it. The man had about a ten or fifteen pound pile of meat sitting there. He took a concrete trowel and troweled off some meat and tossed in on the griddle. He then took the same trowel to cook with. He used the same trowel back and forth on raw and cooked burger. Can you say food poisoning?
The Green Frog is just good ole bland home cooked type food. Nothing to write home about, but my relatives that I used to hunt with in Seymour locked up the brakes at the Green Frog every trip out.

Old man Herd is retiring. His son-in-law is taking over from what I hear. My favorite of the 3 is Dairyland by far.

Never eaten one but, all the oilfield boys swear by the Herd burger. Tried to get my big truck in the parking lot @ lunchtime and never could get in ( too packed).

Good article in Saturday's Star Telegram on old man Herd retiring. Not a bad burger for three bucks.
