What are your favorite lures that you use for trout and reds. also what colors and how do you work them. I have always fished with live bait but I want to try lures and dont have a clue where to start.

How ironic, we both are experiencing the same exact dilemma as well as living in the same area. Here's a tip; build confidence with artificials in densely populated (with fish) freshwater streams, ponds, and lakes, and as you catch more fish you gain confidence which increases your likelyhood of catching fish. It's some psycological thing that they figured out.

Just give fishing up during the day!

Fish at night under the lights with just about any type of lure and you should be okay and have some fun.

Couple of questions for the Oldtimers. Copano was really red hot for me during the years 99-2004, but recently I haven't seen a big trout, sand or speckled. Is it just me?

And how am I supposed to take a bunch of my fellow churchmen? They buy their license at the local Walmart and then at 12am, they all feel guilty and sinful for the current law that expires these 1 day licenses at midnight. What chance is there that a game warden will throw the book at a bunch of wonderful Austin guys that simply are too cheap to buy a 2 day license, when we plan on getting to bed at the local cheap motel around 1am. Do the Wardens have a heart? Anybody ever got caught with a 1 day that expired an hour before your capture? lol.

Here's a quick story for you.

A few years back on the last day of duck season a couple buddies of mine decided to join me for their only hunt of the year. I figured they would have the required Federal Waterfowl Stamp, costs $15, even though it was the last evening of the season.

Well...we go out and have a good hunt and are met by the Game Warden at the ramp. None of my buddies have the Federal Waterfowl Stamp as they were too cheap to buy it. Ended up costing them $250 for the ticket and a ding on their record.

To me, it's not worth the risk. Make them buy the 2 day license! It could save them trouble.

Most of the wardens we've meet on Bolivar have been very understanding when we've found that one of our tickets is expired. But the real point is if they know the law or the rules and choose to break them why should you feel guilty. Maybe it's your place to try to inform them but not to fund them. (Just my 2 cent worth)

Get the 2 day or 5 day. Since I live in Louisiana but also fish Texas pretty often, I just get the one for the whole year. It isnt that much more as I recall. It's also an excuse to go back to Port A. banana
