Better be careful--the THEFTS are hot!!! Amistad Resort had some boats that were broken into last Friday night--the numb nuts were caught in the act and chased to two waiting vehicles, which sped off with said booty. I stayed at Lakeview and had my briefcase, which contained my laptop stolen from my room. According to the hotel staff, the maid didn't take it... They are bonded though... I will state, and I did mention to the owner that I do notice the maid opens up a block of rooms in order to clean and that ANYONE could walk by and make off with whatever they want! I also mentioned to Carlos, who, by the way is one of the nicest individuals you'll ever meet, that this practice needs to stop and that I did not, by any means, accuse the staff of taking it--but, hypothetically, and more than likely the reality, the above mentioned cleaning practice, allowed the scum to make off with my briefcase... I stayed in a corner room in the back building, thus, making it much easier for the "bandit"! It really sux when you think you take your stuff out of of your truck and put it into your room for "safekeeping", only to find out you might as well left it in the parking lot! I filed a report with the Sheriff's office and will continue to work with Carlos in order to rectify this. Things are getting really bad everywhere!!!

Wonder if that practice is condoned by the management or it's just another way in which dishonest people work around a system to get what they want.

Not saying it's the employee, but I would have to suspect that a practice of opening several units at once is an invitation to have co-conspirators.

I'd bring that up, as the fact that the employee's need to be more observant and thus protect their clients, and their own jobs!

Sorry to hear about your loss, but I guess it's just a sign of the times, and something that we need to watch for, because the minimum wage dishonest people, have to look for ways to supplement their incomes, which has always been a problem, and just more so now!

Letting things of value out of our sight even for a short while, is another practice we all may have to stop also, and that lap top may have been safer in a plastic bag in the boat with you!

Thanks for the report. We stay at Lakeview all the time and we will not be leaving anything in the room from now on.

Then you have to be extra careful at the ramp--not sure if there have been any recent attempts to steal anything out of vehicles, but I'm sure it's forthcoming...dang shame!

Yep its gettin ridiculous! We cant leave anything at all in our boathouse cuz someone will swim under and steal it or just push it in the water! We have found alot of stuff under our boathouse while scuba diving we thought got stolen but somebody had just swam under and got it out of the boat or whatever and just threw it in! And its not just here its everywhere I was in n. carolina for work a few weeks back and our truck got broken into and my camera got stolen and when the cop showed up to do a report he said he just leaves his truck unlocked that way they dont have to break anything to get in it! Thats just ridiculous!! Sorry to hear about your losses though thats crazy to think that your stuff got stolen out of the hotel room! Nothing is safe anymore!

I have been forced to clean out my truck box, and use it to store my gear when I'm on the lake. It seems that is the only thing that people haven't broken into.

I know I have seen a couple post about Amistad Resort having boats broke into, any of the other hotels having boats hit??

I am coming back down with my son this summer. We have stayed at Amistad Resort before, but the last time was enough for us. Too many problems there with stuff not working and not good customer service.

Who else down there has a working swimming pool? That is important to my son smile

Thanks for your help.
