I have never caught a carp or been carp fishing. Seems like fun. I bet they put up quite a fight, if nothing else because they are so big!

My fav lake is Fork of course but to get away I love Amistad. Now that our kids are school age I miss hitting up the TTT (now Stren for him)on Amistad with my husband

Will, I'm here again.. I had left because I didn't like the insults. I just wanted to have fun. So decide to leave the forum. After several months, I missed talking to other fisher"people". So I'm back and enjoying it. Why leave cause of a few. Everyone else here seems really nice. Glad to be back

Hi Sisters (and brothers)! I'm not remotely an angler (yet) but I am a lady (well, female anyway). I used to fish sometimes when I was a little girl but not recently, and darn it, I miss it!

Well...my husband and I got bit hard by the lake bug this year and bought our first boat and fishing gear! I just turned 40 on May 9th and we're passing it off as it my mid-life crisis, but we couldn't be more excited.

In our irrational exuberance, we've taken our Galaxie out twice so far, both times with, um, mixed results, including a trip to the shop. Sigh. Can you smell what the money pit is cookin'? Sooo...anybody, male or female, who has any suggestions, advice, comments, or cautions, please send them my way!

Happy Memorial Day to you too. I am 48, and have fished more in the past three or four years then when I was younger. My kids are teens now, and it is much easier than running down little kids, an stressing about them near hooks, and open water. My daughter no longer fishes since she was almost 17. She used to fish with my son and I and loved it. I am thinking once she hits her early twenties she will fish again, this is just a phase, I hope. My son will be 15 very shortly. He likes to fish still, but not as much as I do. I do conventional fishing, as well as fly fishing. Summertime is the least I do any fishing due to heat. I am not an early bird, so by the time I get up,..the fish have already feasted, and not as interested in brunch. I do fish close to dark, and after dark sometimes in the summer. What suggestions were you looking for in particular? Gear, technique, or what?

Welcome aboard!!!! Fishing like any other hobby is a money pit. But a good one. Don't let it discourage you. I just had my 44 birthday in this month. And love fishing. Good luck and lots of enjoyment coming your way. I too believe in a few years your daughter will come back to fishing ours did in her early 20's.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! Primarily suggestions on best times to go, good locations, technique, and technology (bait, lures, etc). We're more night owls ourselves so any nightfishing suggestions are great, too!

We went out Friday night and had some engine problems and chipped the prop, so it's back to the shop before we can try again, but we really hope to get back out this weekend.

That depends on what type of fish you are after. I am a night owl, and the only way I will see daybreak is if I was up all night. I won't get up and out at sunrise...so I miss out on a lot of good fish.

My wife fishes with me sometimes but she thinks I spend way to much time on the web site. I have not told her about the Ladies site. Should I tell her about it?

Sometimes she catches more than me and I just tell her I was trying to put her on the fish.

No I don't do tournaments. I don't want to make a job of fishing. To me it is just for fun only. If it seems like work, that would be stressful to try and pull as many fish as I could, as fast as I could. I go fishing to DE-STRESS....lol. I would like to go bank fishing at Lake Athens, but I think mainly houses surround the lake? I don't have a boat, so all I do is bank fishing for now.
