Linefishing only! Is linefishing the same as freelining? and can mudcats be used legally as bait?

Mason, can you elaborate on the pork fat strips?
I once caught a near limit of catfish (23) at Fossil Rim State Park with Bum Philip's peppered bacon.

I'll show you if you go to the bream fry! Haha...
If you take strips of the fat from trimming a brisket (Make sure you get the untrimmed kind, lets you get bait and leave some good marbling!) or the strips of fat from not-so-bueno bacon, you want to cut them into bait sized strips first. You them put them in a ziplock in the sun for about up to a day, only a couple hours in the sun though. They sour some and release their oils (really hard to get off the hards w/o palmolive). Makes an awesome bait, but the only catch is, if the smell ever wears off, even you can't steal your bait! It holds super well.

Fiesta had market briskets on sale last month for .69 a pound and I bought 6 so I will trim one up. No one has mentioned blood not blood bait just coagulated pig blood. Sangre de Puerco

You should have caught them up and took a fillet knife to them. They make good cut bait for blues.

You should have caught them up and took a fillet knife to them. They make good cut bait for blues. I will take some corn or a cast net nest time Bama and I will freeze and save you some chunks.

ive tried a few store bought bait but they didnt work too good. best bait for cats for me are : 1) chicken intestines 2) chicken livers 3) shrimp $#&^&*&*# kinda illegal *&&@!&$@$!@ but like ive said before look, listen, and ask. i saw a guy catching huge cats below RC dam on the Trinity. he was using strips of sandies . yup, in 45 minutes he caught 12 cats weighing over 100 pounds. i was amazed but not surprised.
the chicken guts or intestines are impossible to get unless you live or know a relative that works at Tyson chicken. had relatives that worked there and got some . fished below Millwood lake in Arkansas and it always caught cats everytime. the cats cant take the chicken guts off the hook. oh, like any really good catfish bait , the smell wont come off easily; hahahah.

In the Brazos, I've found that ghost minnows is the best bait for channel cat & bluecat! Just worm them on the hooks, as many as it takes to get a glob on there! My next favorite is live perch fished in the shallows overnight! The yellows love them!! The next is like Mando said, beef or pig blood, cut into 1 inch chunks & laid out in the sun to crust over, then ease it on a 6/0 hook in the backwaters & git yer filet knife sharpened up good!!

Chicken liver, Shrimp, Sandwich meat. One day, we forgot to bring our bait. Duh-huh. So we used our sandwich meat. Caught lots of cats. I've been seeing a lot about range cubes lately. Tell me about it. Do ya get them at feed stores and about what do they run? How do you use them, and does it work? I know nothing about them. What are they?
