Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone can give me a few pointers, i'll be over in Texas during the first two weeks in June, Port Aransas first, then Galveston for a couple of days, hopefully i'll get a couple of trips in, jettys etc. Whats the surf fishing like at the moment? All i'm going to be able to bring over is a 12ft rod throwing 3oz(UK style carp rod), and a 9ft spinning type rod throwing up to 1 1/2oz, i'll also have a 7ft 30-40lb class boat rod, in case i can get a trip offshore, party boat etc.
http://www.sundayvillas.com/location.html thats where we'll be staying in Port Aransas

I'll have a few bits with me, lures etc,but any information regarding baits etc will be much appreciated.
I'll try and grab a few hours here and there, but it's a family vacation, and i'll be doing other stuff as well! I'll be using an 8000 size spinning reel on the Carp rod, with power-pro, and a 5000 size with the spinning rod, with Spiderwire, both with mono leaders, what can I expect to catch(if anything at all!) do I need wire hooklinks? And do I need to take any precautions apart from the normal ones regarding fish with teeth/spikes etc! I suppose I could put a bait 60 yards or so with the Carp rod, I wish I could fit my surf gear in, I can get a bit further with that! But as I say, it's a family vacation, so i'm happy to make do. Cheers guys.
