Sam Rayburn is at 163.31 ft . The water temperature has been around 75.
The water is clear for the most part to 2 ft. with a little more color as you go up the rivers.
We’ve been out almost every day for Bass or Crappie. We’ve been getting a top water bite early and late on the frogs but most of them have been small. The better fish have been just off the edges of the pads and out to about 6 ft. Wacky worms and senkos have been the best there. There have also been some fish on the points and creeks caught on Carolina and Texas Rigs worms. The bite has been very light and a lot of folks just don’t feel it. Watermelon Red and Green Pumpkin have been the best colors for me.
We fished till about 8:30 last night. On the way in as we rounded the point where you could see Jackson Hill the moon was just coming up over the marina and it was beautiful. I patted the old Nitro 929 on its side and told it was her last run with me. I will be picking up a new boat Tuesday at Big D Outdoors out of Vidor TX 409-769-3700. What boat is it? That’s for the next story.
The Crappie have been doing okay this week with a lot caught off the bridges and grass edges. There are a lot still with eggs in them that we’ve been catching off the brush piles. Minnows have been the best so far. Over the grass a small Trap or Road Runner will pick up a few. I know we have had 3 limits this week and a lot of fun doing it.
If you haven’t heard about The Bass Class on the Water check it out on the website and give me a call. Learn some neat stuff to help find fish on any lake. God Bless
