We fished all morning with not much luck, caught a few on old monster watermelon candy worms, but nothing too exciting. Never seem to be able to find the fish when I come down here. We are going to go at it again tomorrow if anyone has any advice or help. Hope everyone else did better!

Topwater most of the day due to cloud cover. When the wind picked up, the DD22 bite went nuts. Nothing big, with 4lb. being best fish, but over 30 total in 4 hours. Points with deep water access and brush on them were key for us. Also had some 3's on the 6inch Storm SwimShad. Other than that, my partner dragged a riverstick (5inch) all day carolina rigged wacky style and outfished me 3 to 1. Everytime I turned around he had a fish. LOL. Wat/purple. Crank color was summer bluegill. See a red/white 21 IClass Skeeter come by and say hi ! Area we fished today was Guahilla Bay straight across from Diablo.

Awesome, I will be sure and look for you. We stopped by around lunch for some burgers and grabbed a few spooks and had a about 5 to 10 minutes of good topwater action, then it just seemed to quit. I also picked up a few more swimbaits. Im starting to get frustrated with these things, at least when im fishing with my dad and brother. They laugh at me everytime i pull out that 8 inch mission fish. I fished it always with no luck, and yet still seem determined to fish it because i know it works. Anyways, probably be by early in the morning to buy a few more goodies, and thanks for the advice. Im fixing to pull out the map and see if i cant find where this guahilla bay is, thanks and thanks again! Brandon

Just got back, same story for me, huge numbers but nothing over 4 lbs. The coves up river are full of shad and bluegills. A ton of the fish we caught were full of Crawfish and shad. We were mostly sight fishing around bushes and grass. I guess if we could stop our addiction to constant action we would get bigger fish deep -- but it sure is tough for us to leave fish to get fish,
We had a blast.

And to add to Carl, the majority of our fish came off of points.

Same thing today, with 7.07 lb. for big fish. Finished out the limit with 2 lb.r's.. Rio Grande club tournament we were fishing was won with right at 20 lbs. for 3 fish for almost a 7 lb. average. . Buzzy and I counted all caught today and total was 47 fish. Big one came first stop this morning on the Mission Fish in 42 ft. off my favorite point. Then just went point hopping after that. Topwater bite went south right after sunup. Wacky rig continued to produce. Got my exercise netting Buzzy's fish. Bluegill colored DD22's could do no wrong. Same wat/purple carolina rigged wacky style as well. 15-25 ft. was the most active depth for most of the day. Brandon, next time you come down get with me and we'll go do some swimbait fishin' for fun. That way I can show you how to work them. Lot easier on the water than trying to explain it. Really suprised with the high pressure that settled in today with the amount of activity, but the fish didn't seem to mind. 73-74 degree water temps.. Another club that weighed-in next to us was won with 24# for 5. Oh, and I spelled the location wrong. It is Guajilla Bay LOL. Ain't learnt how ta spelt yet.

We finished the weekend kind of slow. Only had a few fish on sunday. You would think as much as I fish this lake I would get the hang of it eventually. You will never see me complaining though, it was a great weekend and couldnt ask for better weather or time with my dad and brother. I missed a call from JC so I will definitely get with him on some techniques for next time. And Carl, I would love to do some fun fishing anytime you want, that would be more than a honor for me! I will probably be headed back to Amistad around the 1st or 2nd of June. Its so amazing to have people like this to talk to. I just cant tell you how blessed I feel. I know its just fishing but it sures says alot about someone when they are constantly doing what they can to help out people they dont even know, thanks again, Brandon
