I went to plug my boat in this evening and found a snake down by the batteries and I just saw about ten inches of him before he went behind the gas tank of my boat! Does anyone know a good way to get the thing out!!!

Hang a mouse by the tail on a stick, when he bites yank him out of the boat. Kinda like fishing.
Just kidding. Hope you get him out so you can go fishing.

If the mothballs don't work, try a white crappie rig with a silver sppon on the bottom. The rattle snakes out by Lake Leon love crappie rigs!!!

Yes Sir, I had the same trouble about two years ago, after flippin bushes all day in a tournament. So I put in the Moth balls and pulled the plug, just a couple mintues out came the small 10 -12 inch snake, copperhead that we had seen after putting the boat on the trailer, after returning to the motel, a second snake came out from under the console, about a three foot water snake. Anyhow I'll never fish the Red River again without mothballs in the boat. They also keep squirrels and mice out too. Fact : Poisionness snakes never leave the lake , unless transfered ! Bandit water snakes dislike us on the water

Bandit water snakes dislike us on the water Dan I would guess they came from the bushes we where fighting all day. You could see snakes on the logs as well, but three or four time we saw snakes jump from the bushes into the water. Not sure when the three footer got in to the boat, but I'm almost sure where the little copperhead fell in.

We dont have bugs in our house. My wife strongly believes in moth balls. My mom put moth balls in every room and closet in our house growing up. After 20 years or so of that that is all I can smell when i walk in her house now.

If moth balls don't work, try a flea bomb. Don't know about snakes but if you every get ants invading your boat, put the cover on, throw in a couple of flea bombs, come out the next morning to a pest free boat.

If your boats sitting by a haystack it is probably a rat snake. It's probably already had a rat today and looking for a place to sleep it off. If its not raining I would just leave it out in the open tonight and he should be gone in the morning.
If he is there in the morning get a stick with a small fork in it and kiss him good bye. Its time to go fishing.

Well I put a whole box of moth balls in the boat and let loose three bug foggers and nothing came out! I would think it is safe to say that the snake is either dead in there or it came out over night. Maybe I sould put that fellas cat in the boat an see if he can hunt it down for me. Anyway thanks for all the comments I appreciate them! Good luck fishing!

I learned this from a junk dealer here that goes around cleaning up others junk piles.....We have rattlesnakes every where around here (but luckily not in the boat yet) and junk piles are their favorite hiding places. He uses the wasp and hornet spray. Says the spray can go a long way when he sprays up under old lumber. He will spray it into the holes and wait. He keeps a 410 shotgun to dispatch the rattlers when they come out. I use it also to get the wasp outa my deer blinds. I usually let the blinds set about a week and haven't smelled any noticeable smell opening day of deer season.

We got two snakes in the boat with us one time when I was a little kid. My mom and I were at the front of the boat as far as you could get and my dad beat them to death with a wooden paddle. That worked preyy good. Needless to say after that we got out of the weeds a little earlier in the evening from then on.

I would have loved to see this! I went to look at a boat this weekend out in Wolfe City, lifted the cover off the motor and there sat 2 snakes. As I lifted the cover off I saw movement and knew it was a snake(s). I threw the cover yelled and screamed, did the high step back into the boat to grab my son who was standing right next to the motor yelling and screaming himself. Quit laughing it was not funny! Turns out the small one was 5 feet long and the bigger one wrapped himself around the motor and would not come out, easily 6'. I will never open a cowling again without a little hesitation.

Hell... leave the snake in there. Just think of it like a free theft deterrent device (kind of like a trunk monkey only for bass fisherman) and he'll keep mice from chewing on the wiring in your boat. Just make sure you drive with your legs outside the console.
