Has anyone heard when this ramp will open?
I asked someone at the C.o.Engineers last
week, he said it's still under water, no plan
to open it....
Water is 4 inches high today, what level do they
usually open it at?

1st of al Murrell is in Flower Mound not Grapevine.

I noticed the ramp and parking lot yesterday was covered with dirt and debries from high water levels. That has to be cleaned up before they can reopen it.

I'm guess they are waiting to make sure no more flooding will take place to minumize their cost to operate the park this year since it is FREE to use.

You could always drive up to the booth and ask the attendant.

I meant Lake Grapevine, not Flower Mound. Last two
times I was there, booth was empty.

Patrick...I drove out a few minutes ago and the attendant said he thinks they will open before Memorial Day.

While I was talking to him I spotted 2 deer running across the road. My first thought was...dang those are big dogs...lol. After all it is Flower Mound but those were definitely deer...

The lake level might be down, but the Corps will not open the ramp/parking lot because of moisture below the asphalt. If it is driven on while it is still wet it will crumble. That is what I was told. Any word on when the east ramp and park area might open? That is a waste of resources if you ask me.

I don't know it for fact but have suspected that when the rapairs are complete for the east side ramp and park that is when the park will start charging to enter. I don't even know if they have done anything to begin the repairs or not.

As far as the asphalt I agree and that is what they told me as well but they said it should only take a couple weeks once the water gets close to normal level.

I still think the ramp will be open for Memorial Day but we'll see...

Thanks, I can live with that explanation, makes sense.
Never thought about saturation UNDER the ramp.
Thanks for your answers!

They are def. going to charge for the park.

The Corps contracted out their Gate and Park Nazi jobs to the highest bidder via a private Gov. site reserved for other contractors and license professionals.

Only a matter of time and money before the Corps has meet all of the contracts obligations prior to charging for entry (park clean up, updates, building etc).

Think of it like a new traffic light being installed. First you install the actual light structure and then wait for crews to install the electrical box and such. Then the city flashes yellow warning lights for a few weeks, after that the light goes into full operation.

That's what's gonna happen at Murrell when are in the Flashing Yellow light phase.
