What would your rate as more important, a color unit with fewer pixels or a grey scale unit with more pixels?

I need a new unit up front and I am looking at the Eagle 500C (color unit with 320 x 240 pixels) or a Lowrance X135 (grey scale with 480 x 480 pixels).

Personally, I'd save up some more money and buy a color with lots of pixels.

More pixels means more separaton of targets, color if you can't read the grey scale.

I am with Dayne, save you money and have best of both worlds.

If you don't want to wait, I'd have to say go with more pixels.
But I'm with them on saving up and getting one with both.

Three most important features of a fishfinder: resolution, resolution and resolution.

If you frequently fish with small children, the low-res color unit might do a better job keeping 'em occupied when fishing is slow.

I have an Eagle 320C (320x240) on my trolling motor. Its color and I like it better than my 480x480 gray scale unit on my console. 320x240 gives good enough resolution and the color is easy to see in the sunlight. I can easily identify fish etc. That being said, it has less power than the 480 and I'm always going slow when I use it so I don't know how it will work at higher speeds. The 500C you're looking at has more power than my 320C.

Pixels, pixels, pixels.Color is nice but the pixel count is by far the most important.

Save for pixels and color. I recently made a serious upgrade from an X 51 to a 520c. The change is awesome. I see so much more detail than before. Have found things I never saw before.

Yep, Color. You can see it so much better, especially up front when the unit is 8 to feet away from your eyes.

Color is beautiful. Pixels show you more. I would choose pixels most times. My sidefinder is much more attractive to look at but my LMS480 shows me more in 2d.

I would choose pixels over color. BUt, and I think this is the most importnat, I would choose power over either. I think having more power is the most important for seeing distinctions between targets.
