Is it me or is that lake getting more and more crowded all the time? When I first moved here back in 2004, it wasn't that bad but now it seems you really need to be out on weekdays only. Weekends have really high fishing pressure. Not to mention in windy conditions the south/lower arm is all but abandoned. The parks are full, the cabins are reserved, the slips and marinas are crowded.

That area is adding quite a few people every year, I can't imagine it gets any better. I wonder if there are plans to open up more ramps/parks, etc.

I imagine it is more crowded with the gas prices. People will stay close to home and Joe Pool is close to home for most.eeks

Just got back. It was crowded, windy, all the ramps are zoos. Lots of guys prefishing for next wk/ends Tourney. Got two over. With all the new houses around the lake, thata one main problem.

That must be it. i was just out there this morning and I don't remember it being that bad. Even Loyd was a mess.

I didn't do squat either.

It's five miles from me, so therefore, I will spend a lot of time there this summer(gas milage reasons of course). Not to mention, I figure if I can catch there I can catch almost anywhere! I have to say though, I hate going on weekends! Especially when the jetskies and speed boaters really start going out.

Amen to the high gas prices keeping everyone close to home.

Memorial Day thru Labor Day weekends, you best be off the lake buy 11 AM or do night fishing which beats the crowds and the sun/heat

I grew up in Midlothian and the lake traffic is the main reason I never fished the lake. I've had 2 tournaments there this past month and it wasn't too crowded yet.. There are tons of good fish in that lake to my suprise. But I agree with gas prices and all of the nearby housing additions going in, it will probably be pretty crazy this summer.

I hear you on the night fishing for sure. Since I live in Grand Prairie i will be heading there about dusk time this year and fish at night. At least the jet skiers will be off of the lake. And my boat is big enough I can camp out on it also. So this is a big plus.

Beside the entrance of lynn creek park. I assume the lake patrol part will connect to the marina somehow. It's part of that police/fire station being built on that spot.

The lake does get bad during the weekend and the jet skiers out there dont realize that they are suppose to avoid the boats, not the other way around.

Thanks, I know where that is. I would think for accessability reasons it would better to build near the state park Marina because it's so close to the center of the damn or smack in the middle.

I imagine their is conflict their. The State owns the State Parks but the City of Grand Prairie patrols the lake I believe.

Correct. I know this because my boat stalled out at the bottom of the lower leg once. Electrical issue and I was facing the wind, so no trolling, no motor.

Embarrassing to call Lake Patrol and have em come get you and your dog. blush

I was there this past weekend. we fished in the rough 12-4pm hours the first day. and then some night fishing after that started at about 830 and got back to camp at 3 with nothing to show. My little brother did some how manage to foul hook a 14 inch yellow cat.... right in the tail... and got him in.... crazy!

So where is the best place to launch before the crowds get there?

Britton would be a place to put in away from the crowds. But may be a long haul to fish. There is no good place to put in when the crowds hit.

I was thinking about this this past Sunday when I was out. I had the ramp to myself at 10 AM but when I arrived back at 4 there was a 20 minute wait.

What angers me are the people with 2 seadoos on the same trailer. Seems one never starts, they arent exactly drive on trailers and the people that have them arent even aware they are well hated among everyone else.

Pontoon boats come in second out there, they launch well but they dont load up quite as good. Once they get loaded then they start the process of moving everything from the boat to the vehicle so it doesnt fall off going down the road.

The bass guys are usually pretty impressive and if everyone could load and unload like them it would make things alot better.

I think the worst times are 1 to 5 on the weekends as you have people putting in and taking out at the same time.
