Brother "B" called today, bright an early at noon getting ready to take the boat out. I checked my schedule and wow,.....no plans..He pulls up to the front yard and off we went. The wind was pushing strong, so I had no yakking plans.

We arrived at "5 fingers" in less than two minutes from the canal. Slicks where popping up everywhere, and the sweet smell of watermelon permeated the air. Oh this is going to be good.

Right off the bat, bam, bam, bam, all keepers. Not more than 30 minutes into the fish, boats start showing up. One boat saw brother "B" catch 2 fish as they where passing, and pulled in right behind us. We had a double hookup going on and another boat that was zipping by came to a stop, turned around, and anchored just behind the first boat. By then, we had 19 fish in the box, and all the choas shut down the bite big time. After 20 minutes of no keepers, we thought about heading in, and going to Tackle Town in Rockport. BUT, we just cant leave with one fish less than a two limit day. So off we went to the "sailboat" hole to catch one more keeper. Nothing for 15 more minutes. It was looking grim and time was running out, and Boom, Brother "B" lands a 17" trout.

20 fish, in less than 2 hours.

As soon as we arrived at the canal, Ol' Gerty showed up for some trout ribs.

Sorry about all the bird pics, but Gerty is a cool bird, and a friend of the family.

One trout was well over 25" that brother "B" caught. It was hooked in the gills and boxed due to bleeding. Not our normal "over 25, stay alive" motto, But oh well.

one more pic.

That is a sweet little reel for some good light work.

Untill next time....um tomorrow that is....

damn, i'm going down there this weekend or next, thinking about head towards carlos bay area to keep away from all the weekenders that can't navi out of aransas bay, hope to catch some like that! i caught a 28 inch trout last summer, same thing, hooked deep and broke my heart to have to fillet it, i'd rather clean 2 17inch trout then that one big one.

that bird it awesome, i think i made one sick one night fishing off the pier just screwing around drinking beer and catching pin perch, would give all the ones i caught to it, and then finally it stumbled around and tried to fly off and just barely made it to the next dock. oops!

those scorpion's are the jap version of the green curado, great reel! just different color and name and not sold here. i know JJ's rebuilds curados, do they rebuild those? hmm, i'll have to call them, i think i could get a few real (reel) cheap.

The scorpion is not at all the same reel as the curado.

Quote from Sandman:
The Scorpion 1000 has a couple of real advantages over the Curado 100B. One is the 4x4 external brake adjustment. This feature is not available on any of the American Shimanos. The second is the 12g. titanium coated wiffle spool. It has the fastest acceleration of any spool that has been tested. This translates into the ability to throw very light baits that were previously reserved for spinning reels. They also have the forged handles.

Ingleside. The fingers are under the water. They are five sandbars with grass in the troughs. But the fish where not there on sunday. It's about finding the "80% of the fish, in the 20% of the water"
