Well, I have been on Vacation since Sunday and we had a chance to do a little fishing \:D I caught my first tarpon, small but my first \:D JV4 and JD Lyle fished out of another boat and kicked our [censored] \:D But we had fun and what an awesome adventure going through the mangroves and the flats. We seen a lot of fish in the clear water and JD and JV4’s boat caught a lot of fish in the mangroves . I tried like hell to get my first Permit , we could see them, see their tails but could not get them to bite. Also seen a couple of bone fish but once again very spooky. It was real windy and hard to see them. John and JD have some great pics he will post later. We did have fun caching a few barracuda … we missed about 20 or so, they would blow up on the lure but we could not hook them… you had to reel really fast and could see 5-10 fish chasing the lures \:D

Did you chunk any crappie jigs at the bonefish ? I caught all
mine on live shrimp, but next time, I will be pitchin' crappie jigs in shrimp colors.
Baracuda are great fun on light tackle, You have to really
burn it to keep their interest.

congrats on the baby tarpon , I have always wanted to catch
some that size, The big ones are fun , but it starts to
resemble work before you land them.

Mo, they looked like a fly with a jig head on them, a little bigger then a crappie jig.

Okay, I finally found time to post the other half of the fishing trip. JD & I fished mainly in the mangroves and after fishing close to JV & James early in the morning, we didn't see them until we met up at the dock. For me, it was an awesome experience thumb Our guide called JD the Snook Man, because he caught numerous snook. He called me the Mangrove man, because I caught...well you get the point laugh

JD fought a Jack for a good while, which was at least twice the size of the one I caught, before the hook broke off of the lure eeks We ended up catching 35 or so, snook, tarpon, jack's and snapper, but lost as many. Our guide, Enrique, fished along with us and at one point he yelled out "Big Tarpon" and immediately after that a tarpon about 4' long jumped clear out of the water right next to the boat, shook his head once and then Enrique said "He broke my line". That was an amazing site, for sure smile
The only bad thing is that I didn't catch any Yellow Bass laugh
