I am going to take a few of my co workers out to Port A Wed. and Thurs. and I was just wondering if I should take them to the jetties or maybe just stick around the shallows, can anyone help?

does anyone know any other good fishing spots in corpus area, I really want to put these guys on fish, a couple of them have never been fishing before and they both have small boys, it would make me happy to get them hooked on a hobby that they could pass on to there boys, thanks

I would really watch out for the winds. I've been out on the jetty or at least tried and it hasn't been fun lately. You don't want them to hate it so I would really check on that before pinning all of your plans to that. The pier at night will be good for them but again winds allowing. I'm looking for new spots at this time of the year. Have fun if you go and good luck with the weather.

I'll be there this weekend myself. I'm going up with my son's and my mom for mother's day. I'm thinking of fishing the packery channel jetties Saturday afternoon/night. I've got a generator and some halogen light stands. Sunday morning, I'm headed to the Port A jetties. I'm hopeing the weather cooperates.

Went to Port A this weekend. Fished Bob Hall Pier Friday night from 10pm to 1am but nothing was really biting for us. As we left we saw several people catching some nice reds and trout by the second light pole from the shore. We had been fishing much farther out on the pier.
Saturday morning we hit the jetties...windy and high tide..nothing was biting so after around 3 hours we packed up and went back to the pool at Port Royal.

The winds gave us fits Sat. and especially Sunday. We managed a few gafftop, hardhead, and small ladyfish. We didn't keep any, but my girlfriend and kids enjoyed catching something. We didn't even try to get on the jetties. We would have gotten wet or blown off the rocks. We surf fished Sat. and fished the pier next to the ferry landing Sunday. I hope you all have better luck than we did. We'll be back in June. We may need to hire a guide to take us in the bays. I'm tired of getting skunked down there.

hmmm, port A? well, I was just out there and just got back from a fishing trip, and it depends greatly on the weather. On a calm day, the jetties may be pretty rough even if the bay is less than one foot waves. I went out once and the bay was about 1 foot, pretty calm, and the jetty waves were breaking on the rocks twice my height cyclop. Then again, yesterday the water was completely flat and the conditions allowed for you to go offshore in a flats boat (there was a lot of people doing that) hmmm. Just remember, if the conditions allow, it's state water red snapper season! food
