i am going juggin on lake palestine for the first time this sunday and i could use some advice. should i work the river and creek channels or go lots shallower than that? i have been told that they are spawning now. what depths should i be in? any advice would be appreciated. thanks
last saturday on lake conroe i set 12 jug lines in about 20 feet of water and then i was going to fish the bulkheads with rod and reel. i never pulled out my rod and reel, the jugs were catching fish before i could bait em all. i ended up setting them in a huge circle around a creek chanell. by 1:30 pm the live well was full.
lots of those fish were full of eggs....... i cant wait until tomorrow. i may fish the bulkheads before i set the jugs this time.
I fish jugs around dropoffs with rough bottom. I don't tend to fish jugs shallow.
One good thing about jugs is it's easy to try different depths and areas, just make up more jugs. It won't take you long to figure out the best depth for the area.
The river and creek channel idea should work fine.
