Put in a new washer to day but could attach cold water fill hose.

The old hot water fill hose is corroded to the faucet. Tried pliers and pipe wrench but afraid to apply any pressure as this is a old cheap [censored] mobile home and the pipe is plastic.

Any ideas on how to remove the water hose fitting without destroying the faucet?

TRY some Wd-40 on it. You can also try some CLR or simular lime deposite remover.

Did you turn on hot water at washer to get pressure off of it ?

If you cant break it loose, get a hacksaw blade in there somehow and cut the faucet valve off below the coupling. Replace it and you're good to go !

You might try the WD-40 and "tap tap tap" trick first, though.

Haven't tried Clr
Do have it sprayed with a silicone lube.

The hose sprang a leak and flooded a bunch before I got it cut of a while back. All that is there is the fitting and 1/2" of hose. In order to turn off the hot water to the faucet I would have to turn the entire water system off. The faucet is screwed into plastic pipe fitting sitting flush with the with the bottom of the framework. I would need to tear the wall apart to get to anything to cut and replace although it might come to that if I do decide to replace it.

The corrosion is green in color much like you get on cheap gold.
It was on both ends of the hot water supply line. I was wondering if it was caused by some kind of electrolysis.

I was wondering if there was some magical trick to getting the fitting off. I can wash clothes in cold water and probably save some money.

Personally, I wouldnt jack around with it for very long. I'd just get it done and over with.

Is it near the outside edge of the mobile home? If so, get under there, and place a piece of wood or something under the pipe and raise it just enough to hacksaw the PVC fitting off from inside the house. Then install a new PVC fitting. ( or a coupler, a short piece of PVC pipe, and then the fitting that the faucet screws on to. As for cutting the wall open, if you cant reach it from the underside in order to give you some slack to cut, etc.....then take a skill saw...set the blade 1/4 inch deep and cut two vertical slits in the wall, side by side, about 4-5 inches apart.....( below the line of the electrical outlet, so as to not cut the romex). Then hacksaw the pipe there, add a coupler and a faucet fitting on the top.

Patch the wall with whatever material is needed and forget about it.

That's the answer.

Since you said the pipe is plastic - It is PVC, CPVC, PEX and all three having coupling and/or glue (Solvent Weld) material that can be purchased at Home Depot/Lowes/Plumbing Supply Store............

Just stub up new pipe and replace valve and be done with it

Try liquid wrench for an hour or two.

try the yellow pages under plumber....grin...j/k

oldfrog is right. if you can get under there, brace it up with a 2x4, cut it off, and replace it. remember, it's not pvc, or cpvc though, it's going to be pex pipe. sutherlands has everything you need if you have one.

You might try a little "shock" treatment if you have room. Get a couple of hammers. Use the heavier one as a "stop" by holding it against the connector. Now tap the connector with the other hammer. Move around the connector as much as possible. With any luck, the shock and vibration will cause the corrosion to break up allowing the connector to be removed.

Shock and/or vibration works wonders in getting a lot of things off.

Yeah and if the haammer dont work get a bigger hammer.
Think I will just wash in cold water.
Thats the simplest solution or non solution.
I dont wear tidey whities anymore so not worried about how to get the dingy gray out. LOL

grandpa ! You are disappointing us ! We need you to tackle this job for our future entertainment. Just think...you might have a snake or rat or wasp battle story to tell us after you crawl under there !

Suit up, arm yourself and get under that trailer, soldier !

Here's a .45 and a flashlight, now get in there and CLEAR !
