Met alot of TFF'ers today - nogeese & Rookeie07, Clint & his fishing buddy (whose name now escapes me), and saw Newcastle again. Was testing nogeese's 'mice' tailspinners at Hidden Cove with him ... somehow the name 'BB's or 'BBspin' just seems more apt. Anyways, very effective lures, though it took some getting used to (missed loads of strikes because my reflexes are so tuned to slabs by now). Had largemouth, sandbass and hybrids all take the jig and saw Clint get a blue cat @ 4 pounds with one.

Today ended up being mostly a learning trip for me, though I still had a few nice fish. Especially my personal best hybrid!! Hit a slab in 13' by Deadmans point (you know, that's the second big hybrid I've had there in a couple weeks ... maybe there's something I should be noticing? lol) Had to cry like a baby for a net & fortunately Clint came over & lent me his (thank you thank you THANK YOU). Fish was 23-1/2" long & weighed just over 8 pounds according to our scale at home ..... YEEHAW!!

Last stop was Twin Trees, joined by Newcastle & his kids. Almost more fun to see a kid having fun catching fish than to catch them yourself. Almost. They were pulling up some good size sandbass on rattletraps; maybe next trip they'll learn 'don't stand on the back & cast past Dad while he's fishing the bow' ... especially when the result was catching another fish under his dad's nose lol

Final tally was somewhere around 16-18 sandbass (9 keepers), 1 lmb (small) & the hybrid. Had another hybrid earlier on a 'mouse' that I think would've been a keeper if it hadn't gotten away at boatside. It's a good day when I get one of those hawgs cheers

postscript - must remember spare batteries for the bloody digital camera! Had to use the cellphone camera & fortunately it takes good quality photos. Even learned how to use the SD card adapter to download them to the PC.

Zeek, I talked to you at the Lake Park ramp (at least I think it was you). I was in the Fishmaster getting out. Glad you had a good day.

Great fish Zeek! It sounds like this mice is the new humdinger. I don't have either but I do know that I am going to have to get some. Oh and next time I see you in that boat with all that room I am sending two kids over to keep you intertained.

LMAO - Newcastle, I don't mind taking kids fishing with me. I have to do less fishing & more coaching (although your kids seem to have a handle on the fishing part).

Rebel, yeah that was me at the ramp trying to net shad; most days when there's nobody using the ramp I usually have plenty of time to fool around like that (won't be able to once the summer traffic really hits). Have seen a couple Fishmasters on the lake & they look very comfortable.

I was so tempted to go out yesterday but didnt go get the boat i could see a few people huddled around twin trees from the bridge. I need to get me some of those lures then if they work so good. I still have yet to even try the humdingers but i have some coming cause my buddys girlfriends grandfather makes the humdingers so yay freebes

I am rather new to fishing Lewisville but 18 Sandies does'nt sound excactly like tearing it up. Like I said I am new to this lake however if that is a normal good sandbass day I will have to figure out the crappie. Not being a smart a## Are they schooled up because I have only seen a few scattered fish. BTW nice Hybrid.

eighty, my 'typical' day is something like 30-40 sandbass, with most being keepers - on the few days where I say I had over 60, you can bet that alot were undersized. This day I missed a huge number of hits ... I'll chalk it up to getting used to a different lure, but it was slower fishing than on windy days.

When the wind drops off, the fish tend to scatter because the bait scatters. When theres some breeze or wind, the bait tends to congregate & the sandbass follow in schools.

Zeek, I hear ya. I moved to from Garland so I had Ray Hubbard down and Tawkoni also. This time of year most lakes with sizeable sandy/hybrids they are schooled up and feeding on top early and late. I don't know the lake well but I am forcing myself to fish it as it is only about 7 mins from the house gas and all. The sandies I have caught have only been keeper size no magnums. Dont know if there are big ones in there or not. Tawakoni has some of the biggest and Lavon has some of the smallest on average i have seen. JMO though. Been catfishing the rocks lately doin pretty good. Hope they start schoolin soon, the birds have been lying to me so far.
